This is pretty wild. Vermont isn't supposed to get tornadoes. This cell is on its way towards me.

Wild weather last night. Was under a tornado warning, not sure if one touched down or if it was just a microburst. Trees down everywhere, powerlines everywhere and I'm still without power. First tornado since 1953 touched down in the greater Burlington area as a strong F2 possibly an F3. No fatalities or injuries thankfully just a big mess. Weather Service will be in Burlington this afternoon to investigate the damage done.

Glad everyone is okay, we had a tornado come within 50 miles of my area about a month ago which was not common either...

Weather Service just confirmed an EF2 tornado touched down in Burlington last night which is Vermonts largest city. First confirmed tornado in Burlington since 1953.

Strange weather in my parts. It was just 35 degrees last week with snow showers then we get super cell thunderstorms. Classic saying in Vermont is "don't like the weather? Wait 5 minutes and it'll change".

They are pretty crazy. Sounded like a train rolling though. Props to the Weather Service for issuing a tornado watch. Made people stay inside when the storms came rolling though and probably saved some lives by doing that. Appaently there was one fatality and that was a boater who got caught on Lake Champlain when the storms came through. The man must have not been paying attention because if you are on the Lake you get a pretty good view of the clouds. When these storms came though the sky was black as night. That should have given him ample warning that death would be a pretty good bet if he didn't get back to shore.

How deep does your snow usually get?

Depends how high up you are. Sea level not so deep but if I go up into the Black Hills its feet deep. Also depends when we get the Arctic Blasts as they can be pretty bad. We have very variable weather here it can snow in the middle of summer.
