Well put. RPJ is no more knowledgeable on these topics than lots of us who have been following the various UFO phenomena for decades. He's a prolific commenter. I know he has lots of fans, but don't know why. As a friend of mine likes to say, persistence will get you a long way.
There was that one guy, had a blog and some famous friends, died very young. Mac Tonnies. Nice guy. Very articulate. He seemed to get credit (from some) for inventing the idea of aliens being from Earth. Well, something like that. Of course all those ideas had been around far longer than he had. Those ideas were old even before I was born. I never did get that whole thing. I had nothing against him. If I lived near him and met him, I'd probably have had a few beers with him. But really, he wasn't a researcher or investigator. Oh well, at least he wasn't just famous for being famous.
The old literature is full of investigators visiting witnesses, checking with military bases, looking up airline schedules and astronomical tables, looking at the spots where weird things were reported to have happened. I'm impressed with the resourcefulness and the professionalism you find in that stuff. Intelligent people
out doing things. Endless rehashes of other people's
work don't impress me. Hell, I could do that, but I have better ways to waste my time.
