It's always hard to "put tougher". I'm guessing the $100 may be required for entry to a card game or maybe he needs to pay his dealer.

I'm sorry - but if anyone is really stupid enough (maybe "foolish" would be more PC) to fall for this sort extended panhandling then they will only have themselves to blame. I can't imagine that anyone would really fall for these? Unless it was brainwashing by some sort of cult. Maybe it's the control mechanism mooted by Dr.Vallee. Having said this - despite joining that forum recently, I never received any of these myself.

Nobody believes it anymore. Also there is no "control mechanism" that is responsible for bad behaviour beyond dysfunctional brains. Gene is not a contactee, he is not an experiencer, the only reason he is in Ufology/Paranormal circles is because it is fertile ground for grifting due to the abundance of gullible people.

well if that's the case it looks to me that the well has pretty much run dry now. So I guess I should be downloading the best of those old classic archive shows while I still can. It was certainly quite exciting back in the early days, with a seemingly very active forum too - I can see how many folks could have been swept along in the enthusiasm. Sad that it's cratering now though - but many ufologists seem to end up in dire financial straits.

I wasn't sure how much if at all he touched on his "financial struggle" in the podcast. I have listened to excerpts where he mocked the claims he has a gambling problem but I thought he didn't solicit during the podcast and tried not to address his donation appeals in the podcast itself.
He seems fine emailing his forum members asking for money, but at the same time he quashes mentions of the topic on the podcast. Just post the subject lines from some of his emails there and the post will be deleted. Simultaneously when he used to aggressively counterattack in blog comments he'd claim he knows of no one else who faces such harassment for asking for donations, etc. etc.
I've seen him act like anyone with a donate via PayPal to support us! button on a web page for their podcast is doing exactly the same as Gene day after day saying he needs money to pay for the most basic living expenses. He acts like there is no distinction but at some level I think he knows what he's doing is hardly the same thing as having a Patreon or doing occasional 'fund drives' or what have you.

He never discusses it directly on the podcast. This is done on purpose. If he made it clear that he was a conman on the show itself people would never join the forum or Paracast Plus. That would destroy any chance of him grifting off them or earning subscriptions.

I'll admit I am behind the times but my reaction is she's a good guest. It is disappointing she is appearing on the Paracast. Wonder how clumsy the interview will be.
