Deadly Wuhan Coronavirus

SO this is going to be a seasonal sickness. Lovely,

by this time next year, we still won't have that vaccine, Even at breakneck speed, who can possibly rest comfortably that by this time next year we will all be vaccinated. Hopefully, the next season won't be as difficult But make no mistake. Sometimes the second wave of a pandemic can be worse than the first.

I can't offer a lot in the way of combating this virus that hasn't already been said,

I will say this, We have, in our lifetimes never faced something quite like this. Emotionally, Mentally, We must be prepared to deal with this. This is a new normal now, Fear and panic do nothing to serve us. We have to process this, We have to accept this new normal and adjust to this.

Those aren't options we have, Those are adaptations we have to make to survive in this new era.

Also, I get the Notion, That people are beginning to Calm down about this, And that's good, But This is far from over. Even when Midsummer this is seemingly a non-issue, This can manifest, This Virus isn't like the Flu. It's a version of Sars. We have to eradicate this, We can't rest easy till it's completely contained.

There's a few other threads talking about UFOs as recently as yesterday, haven't seen you in any of them...

Just saying lol...

...
Well, yeah. If someone doesn't like a thread they can elect not to read it. It is not a one-thread forum.

Britain's current death toll exceeding five thousand suggests that there were in the vicinity of half a million infections four weeks before those figures were accurate. (Reports are that there are several days' delay in the reporting of deaths in this country, and I assume that there is an overall infection fatality rate of 1%. If the Lancet study figure of 0.66% I mentioned several posts ago is accurate, then there would have been about three-quarters of a million infected.)

This exceeds by an order of magnitude the estimate given by the government's Chief Scientific Adviser, Patrick Vallance, on the 17th of March to the House of Commons' Health and Social Care Committee, when he said that 55,000 might be infected at that point (the official count on that date, three weeks ago today, was 1,950). If we assume that the cases doubled in the seven days between the 10th of March and the 17th (the evening of the 16th was the date of our lockdown, and six days seems like a reasonably long doubling time, pre-lockdown, for this disease), then there may have been a million or more cases in the country by the time that Sir Patrick spoke.

Up to 55,000 people could be infected with coronavirus in UK, government says

I agree with Dejan, The forums have suffered a lot in the wake of this Covid-19 stuff. It's not like
AE A forum dedicated to the paranormal absolutely had to become a grand central station for the topic. but it has, And so much so that it's allowed other topics to go untouched. There is literally no reason for him to be in the UFO threads because there isn't shit happening in them or anywhere else for that matter.

Dejans's opinion is accurate. This UFO and paranormal forum has become Grand central station for COVID-19 and other topics aren't getting nearly as much love.

I mean metaphorically Dejan is correct, AE, Has caught COVID-19. It's all that's happening here,. And that's kinda sad. ,

Look at a chart in the above post #1,355 and you'll see 3 deaths in China. The latest news is no new deaths in China. That means as soon as lock-down runs it's course we are back to normal.

China records no new virus deaths for first time

But if you are really smart, jump in and buy stocks or even better stock index tracking funds, because right now markets are rising like crazy, exactly in anticipation of the recovery from coronavirus:

Global Stock Markets Rise, Extending U.S. Rally: Live Updates

And, good news is that increased privacy during the lock-down helped pandas mate, so there a lot to look forward to:

A zoo has been trying to get two pandas to mate for 10 years. When coronavirus shut the zoo down, the pandas finally did

And, yeah, lets close this thread and go back to talking again about UFOs :)

So start a different thread. I have but we're all plenty distracted by the, well you know .... unheard of global plague ...... and stuff like that .....

Pigfarmer, This post was a long time in coming This does not pertain to you, It just happened right here at this point.

I don't mean this in context to you, I say this because it's evident in the forums and it's time it got said.

There is a difference between intellectualism and elitism. Far too many people like to swoop in in moot other people's opinions or points here. This is not speculation, This is a fact, How many arguments have we seen here. because people are just mooted by others? So much so, some people fear to comment others just leave.

I'm guilty of this myself, But that doesn't mean others deserve to be "put in their place" This is a forum of opinions and his opinion was pertinent to the coronavirus situation.

There is a difference between intellectualism and elitism.

People can say, But shadow what elitism? Don't make me prove this. I can find a list of many who have left here because they can't speak because someone else keeps mooting their points.

This needs to be addressed. This is a big forum, There is more than enough room to ignore an opinion someone doesn't agree with,. Rather than Completely invalidate their thoughts and feelings.

Please don't think I'm angry, I'm not, My thing is, To say what I just said, There is no way to say that without pissing people off, THat's not what I want.

My opinion is, What it is. But, people can't have opinions anymore without being ready to fight for them or defend them in long campaigns, I have my own mind, My own opinions, I can't follow the other man, And it does get old having an opinion, ANd Random Joe blow coming through, ME ME ME ME ME ME ME, And invalidating everything I said or forcing me to defend my points taking up my time,

Just, Gee whiz, let people have opinions,* speaking in general to the general populous here

All forums follow a pattern. The nature of the forum changes the pattern, but there still is one. I fart around in a classic car forum as Pigfarmer, not hard to find. It's technical, not social, but I see a lot of similarities.

Inevitably personalities clash and due to the anonymity of all this things are said that very likely would not be expressed in person - at least not the same way. A forum in which everyone agrees would be damned boring. When it comes to conflict I think we here at AE are generally more in agreement with one another than not and even if I don't care for some topic or point I'd much prefer an active contributor.

Learning is where you find it and I've read some really interesting things here that I wouldn't have bothered with otherwise. My comment to @Dejan Corovic might've come off as snarky but I really didn't meant it that way. I'd be glad to see some new threads going and several of us have added them. It's just hard to think about all that when all we hear day in and day out is .... all that. In that respect I totally agree with him but doubt it's possible to just ignore it.

I don't think we need a whole meta-discussion in this thread about whether or not we should contribute to this thread. If you don't like it, an available option is simply not to read it. You cannot dictate what other people's enthusiasms should be, however, if you think they should be discussing the things that you want to discuss instead.

America's coronavirus death toll nearly doubles in the first week of April alone, bringing total fatalities to 11,000, compared to March's entire total of 4,000 deaths

The number of Americans who have died from coronavirus has nearly doubled in the first week of April alone compared to last month's entire death toll. The death toll from the pandemic now stands at 11,000 with more than 368,000 confirmed infections across the United States. Figures show the number of fatalities has increased drastically by 7,000 in the first six days of April. It is almost double the 4,000 deaths that were recorded for the entire month of March when the coronavirus started to spread rapidly across the country. The first death on US soil was reported back in Washington state on February 29.

UK's official death toll leaps by record 786 in 24 hours - plus 68 extra victims reported around the country: Total hits 6,159 with latest victims including a 'healthy' 23-year-old with 'no underlying conditions' as Boris battles the virus in ICU

The Department of Health, which releases daily coronavirus figures for the UK, today said there had been 786 new deaths recorded across hospitals. This includes 758 in England and 28 in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. However, when counted individually, Britain announced 854 new deaths today, with the 758 in England, as well as 74 in Scotland, 19 in Wales and three in Northern Ireland. But the DH's cut-off of 5pm the night before means the official round-up is lower.

For example, the DH's official death toll across the UK stands at 6,159 - but the true figure is 6,236 when the numbers are added up for each nation (5,655 in England, 296 in Scotland, 212 in Wales and 73 in Northern Ireland). Experts have warned against pinning too much hope to single-day changes in the statistics because many of the deaths date back days or even weeks before the date that they are announced, and it could still be another week or two before the effects of the UK's lockdown, which began on March 23, start to filter through to the numbers.

Today's statistics come as Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains in intensive care at St Thomas' Hospital in London (pictured left and right, ambulance staff at the hospital in the capital). His spokesman said this afternoon that the PM was 'in good spirits', is in a stable condition, has not been diagnosed with pneumonia and is still breathing on his own.

'#ClapForBoris tonight at 8pm': Twitter users unite in support of PM with prayers and photographs of support after he was moved to intensive care with worsening coronavirus symptoms

NHS workers have joined those urging the Prime Minister to 'get well soon' with photographs of medics holding up signs on wards shared to Twitter. Staff on the Nason Ward at George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton (pictured main) held up placards reading 'get well soon Boris' in support of Mr Johnson. At Solihull Hospital near Birmingham, medics at the Acute Medical Unit also urged the Prime Minister to 'get well soon' in a photograph posted to Twitter. Others across Britain posted signs in their windows reading 'pray for Boris' and 'get well soon Boris' (top left) in support of the Prime Minister. Mr Johnson, 55, was transferred to the ICU at St Thomas' Hospital in London last night and given oxygen after his health deteriorated sharply over just two hours, leaving doctors fearing he may need a ventilator.

I be-leaf! Image of Jesus appears in a tree in Colombia prompting locals to break coronavirus lockdown as they gather to pray

Dozens of Colombians broke with the country's strict coronavirus lockdown to gather in front of a tree - after an image of Jesus appeared in its branches. The bizarre scenes took place in the town of Magangué, in the north of the country, just fours days after the country announced a lockdown to slow the virus's spread. Locals said people began gathering in front of the tree to pray for protection from the disease and for God to rid the world of evil.
