I can't imagine reaching my 73rd birthday and celebrating by asking total strangers for a money handout.

Well I guess it was three car loads of stuff now. This is just becoming sad. He's a sad old man that just needs to go away.

Three car loads? Has he announced this? From his last update I was confused if he had even relocated. I figured he must have but was surprised me made no mention of it.

I think it is sad. If I didn't think Gene were crooked I could imagine myself rooting for him somehow. His dedication to his eccentric hobby. But, I feel he has so many loathsome attributes, and then seems to me a crook besides. I cannot find sympathy for him. But of course, again, I don't want him to be living on the street.

It is a personal failing I am riveted to Gene's freaky drama. Ah well. We've all got something.

A trying weekend!

Hi,

Other than a quiet birthday, it wasn’t the easiest weekend with which to cope.

We had to move to another motel Saturday. Since I’m not sure how long we’ll be staying, we took lots of stuff, nearly three carloads worth, to be able to survive without regular trips to the storage facility.

As before, I have to pay the motel by 11 AM to continue to stay here for another day or two. I’m also continuing to put together money to move to a new apartment.

Otherwise we are out the door. It nearly got that way a couple of times at the other place.

In addition to resuming ride sharing today, I’m working with Anders to get the Paracast facelift done. He has invested weeks to put it together. Based on his experience with web development and marketing, he expects it’ll be profitable for us. He’s a long-time listener and that’s why he made the commitment.

So I’m definitely making progress. In the meantime, are you able to help me survive for a few more days?

I knew Anders wasn't legit and this almost proves it.

Sometimes you have to realize there are people going through life who have no plan and are clueless. Steinberg is such a person. How much of other people’s money has he burned through and he isn’t one step closer to solvency. After all these years it is no ones responsibility to support him further. It’s like pouring cash down a piss hole.

Exactly and I'm pretty sure that some of the people who would have helped him would have been living in worse circumstances than he is and only later found out that his emergencies were either fabrication, exaggerations or completely self inflicted. If he wants to permanently live beyond his means and avoid real work that is his choice but he doesn't deserve any support in doing that.

And when I see people kindly try to point out to Gene that he needs to rethink things, he seems to turn nasty pretty quick.

He just wants your money, and despite the evidence what he is doing is not working or going to work, he's quite certain of himself.

It is quite amazing to me. Steinberg takes the approach the he is owed money by his benefactors. He gets pissed when it doesn’t go his way. If he had an ounce of smarts he would take the saintly approach and graciously thank those money givers so the money spigot would stay open.

That is one of the most egregious things about the whole situation and it reveals Gene's true character (even if you don't know about what he did with his BIL and victims of that scam).

Someone who is truly in need of help doesn't viciously turn on people who are trying to be helpful. Gene just wants money without any questions asked. God only knows what he does with it whether he gambles it or spends it on Faberge eggs.

The only thing that is certain is that he mismanages it in some way that makes it into a bottomless pit that requires constant begging and Gene has no shame about doing so.
