This is outrageous. Of all the crazy things he claims in these emails to garner sympathy this has to be the most egregious episode yet. It is impossible to believe.

Breakfast bars for Dinner! They're called BREAKFAST Bars for a reason. Has he no shame?

At times I still can't get over how he has no problem conducting himself like this. He wants to be taken seriously as lord and master of the good ship The Paracast, a radio man, and yet he also makes ridiculous claims and constantly, constantly tries to wheedle money out of his audience.

I had my last cheeseburger! I had to use the "grab and go" breakfast option! Send me money.

Is this the first recent mention of a bank account being "underwater"? So his PayPal account and one bank account are allegedly both in the red?

So the truth is that if someone complained about his car. He can NOT drive for Uber until it is fixed and inspected. So no Uber Lyft.
if he is down to his last dollar,(Recall the $1.80) this means somehow he got his bank account positive. If I am not mistaken He did state he was negative on his bank account right?
And how does he know a person who is a cyberbully did the complaint? For all he knows it could be some one he picked up and if the car needs alignment complained. who knows.

He's such a POS. I just did cursory Google search of "free meals Mesa AZ" and found numerous options for the homeless or underhomed to get free meals. There is also a phoenix metro housing authority that will work with seniors who don't have permanent living situation rehoused ASAP.
He has options and he obviously isn't taking his situation seriously, which is why none of us believe him.

three words...The salvation Army. I am NOT ashamed to say this organization helped my family in the dark days after the robbery last year. They put food on the table. I plan on paying them back this holiday with a donation and some bell ringing.

Walk me through how you would say the complaint worked.

Gene brought up his tires on October 1st, and mentioned them again October 3rd.

I haven't looked but, what is the complaint process if you are not a passenger? You'd have to, I assume, find something on the Uber website that let you contact them, and tell them a Gene / Eugene Steinberg in Mesa, AZ was driving on tires so bald they are unsafe. Something like that...?

If that happened on the 1st, Uber had to read and respond to that and say something (again I'd assume by email or some kind of in-app message) to Gene by the morning of today, October 4, to the effect there'd been a complaint, and that the complaint was about him driving on unsafe tires.

I'm just not sure how to see all that playing out in the space of a couple days, with it not being a complaint from an actual passenger, vs. Gene seeing someone bring the idea of complaining about him driving on bald tires in the rain in a comment at the UFO Trail blog, and deciding to say it happened (or assuming it had happened). Either way, he then can use it for sympathy and to mock his foolish, bullying critics. That's my take anyway. I think it's killing him that he can't strike back somehow at people who are criticizing him, yet he can't stop reading their comments either. For an old Usenet nuisance like Gene it's the worst of all possible worlds. In the Paranormal Davey 'dongs' episode, Gene noted settling up with the trolls was on his to-do list once he got cash. You'd think just getting into a sane living situation and thanking the Good Lord for deliverance would be all he'd care about in that scenario, but no, he needs to settle scores.

Exactly. The Uber complaint is complete crap.

I also think anyone who believes he actually does any driving for Uber is gullible beyond belief - being that naive with someone like Gene is a risky endeavour. It is not technically feasible given how much time he spends online.

The big problem when someone is a pathological liar is taking anything they say at face value and trying to understand it in rational terms.

Further as goblin pointed out large online companies like Uber are very slow to respond to anything because they have virtually zero staff - it's one of the reasons why they make such huge profits. That's if you can actually find the right place to complain.

If you went on their website you would probably have a really hard time finding where to even put in a complaint. That's if you were a genuine customer that had used the service - if not they will not even allow it because they will likely get spammed a lot. This is deliberate - they don't want you to complain (even if it is genuine) because it costs them money every time people do. The more they can minimise it the lower they can keep their costs.

I know because I have tried in the past. These kind of companies always make it so hard that most people will give up before they get through.

There is no way any random person would be able to do it.

I think a complaint would start with a phone call or an email filing.
but if you look you will also see that in order to drive for Uber you need to have a car in good operating condition.
Uber requires a inspection of a car.
someone issued a complaint.
I never took or drove for Uber. but I think a driver has to have a registration number. (if I am wrong forgive me.) I would think to be a legit complaint they would need the ID number of his uber registration. and his car licence number?
Will continue to reseach...

Why again does he split up his threads like this?...Its so stupid to do this, any readers that come along should be able to read a topic in its entirety without interruption...Then he puts out the statement of him originally starting that topic as if that is something important to him, a bit narcissist?...

I way thought it was the limits of the forum version.
after 1000 post it would lock and a new topic started.

Well you also need to actually be willing to do some work. So that also disqualifies Gene.

Something struck me as I read through some of Steinberg’s crap posts. I don’t recall coming across any human being that whines as much as he does. Jesus, try and get a pair, will you? I know of people who are going through some tough times. I never hear this kind of whiny pleading from them. Perhaps this comes from the expectation that the world owes Steinberg money.

If he spent as much time looking for a true job as he does setting up accounts so people can funnel him money, he would be so much better off. My parent’s generation would never carry on like this guy. It’s called “Pride”, Steinberg. Instead of calling every human that doesn’t support you a “bully”, get off your dead ass, push the keyboard away and get busy looking for real work.

I agree with you, and amateur psychoanalysis style, I think it could be a combo of two things going on there:

One I think is he has to sound miserable in his emails. He wants to push buttons and get people to send him money to make things better. The crisis is perpetual. We know a few years ago he was declaring something like "This is the worst year of my life" in begging emails while simultaneously bragging about his leased luxury car in an online forum.

Two is, I think he spends a lot of time on his own and in his own head, and little things (I need new tires!) wind up become big things (I need new tires! EVERYTHING IS COLLAPSING!) when he can vent into these emails. I think that's also why you get the weird focus on details that likely don't matter to people reading the emails - PayPal minutiae or the like. It matters to him in his obsessive way and he winds up sharing it with everyone.

Gene's answer is "size" without elaborating...I can only assume he simply doesn't personally like a large thread, another passive-aggressive way of controlling things?...

It would fit with his peculiar need to have things done a certain way or not at all. He seems incapable of incorporating the views of others to even the slightest degree. If it is purely his own personal preference it is another illustration of how he sabotages himself - generally in my experience search engines give forum posts that have many responses and a longer duration of activity a higher ranking - similar to links. By breaking up his more popular threads he would be actively reducing their potential rank. Gene probably doesn't understand this sort of thing though because his knowledge of search is stuck in the era of Altavista and Infoseek.

Very relevant post in the UFO trail comments:

You missed a good post previous to the one you posted from the UFO Trail. Supposedly someone reported Steinberg to Uber/Lyft for driving his vehicle with bald tires and his vehicle needed a front end alignment. I am betting Steinberg's bald head exploded when he read that.

I tried to copy that post to here but had difficulties with my funky tablet that I use.

I didn't miss it. They didn't report him, they suggested someone do it but as I have pointed out in one of my previous answers it is highly improbable that anyone could without actually using him as an Uber driver - even then it would not occur that quickly.

Gene likely read it and thought it was a great way to create a new fake crisis. He seems to make a habit of responding to what people write about him in his faux crises updates probably because he has so little imagination of his own.

I was finally able to copy that UFO Trail post:

Gene is now claiming Cyber bullies contacted Uber and made a "false" claim

    It was me.

I contacted Uber yesterday and filed a complaint, But i used Genes own letters where he himself states that his tires were bald, and that his wheels needed alignment, and that by his own admission the rain was making that worse.

It was not a false claim, It was Genes own claim about his cars roadworthyness, i simply passed HIS claims on to Uber.

Gene himself has told the world his tires are bald and unsafe in the wet, The only way that can be a false claim, is if Genes claim itself was false.............

It wasn't done out of spite, it was done because Gene himself admitted that in the wet the situation was dangerous.

It is selfish and stupid (two words that should get a place on his tombstone) to put other road users and passengers at risk of an accident by driving on tires he knows are not safe and roadworthy.

It was the responsible thing to do.
