I haven't listened to the Paracast in a couple of years. I find most guests on these ufo/paranormal shows are there to sell product. As I am not buying I don't find the need to tune in. Any friends of the Paracast I have given up on. Sorry to say, I find them enablers of Steinberg.

When there are discussions of Roswell, I don't to hear that hashed over for the 50th time. But if you find something positive in these various programs, more power to you.

I listened to the free version, but then subscribed and I have to admit the paid content was worth it at the time. Anybody have thoughts on Micah Hanks Gralien Report? I have listened to it off and on over the years, but for some reason couldn't get into it consistently.
He's somewhat skeptical, but since he doesn't deal with the paranormal or UFOs very often, I don't mind.

Hey all! So I'm late to the party, but better than not making it right? Anyways I have been listening to Paracast from the beginning and admit I have enjoyed it up until recently. I always heard rumors about his financial begging but never really looked into it. All of a sudden last month I started getting the "emails". Even though Chris left the show long before he officially quit the show was still ok. Now it is a train wreck and despite having a subscription, I don't plan on listening unless a guest that I really like is on. I actually don't have the issues with Randall that a lot of people do. I think he is genuine, if not misguided.

Anyways, the lack of good shows and the new to me money issue has really turned me off from the show. I didn't block the emails because it actually makes me laugh. My question to you all, being that you obviously had an interest in the topics that were/are discussed on the show, what did you replace the Paracast with? I am looking for a new show that is worth listening to. What are ya'll recommendations. Thanks!
welcome to AE plenty of things to discuss!

You mean made up fiction stories or they talk about known cases?

One person talking relating a case or episode or story. Non-fiction (although, you may believe the story being related is a delusion or a hoax but it was presented as true, like say the airship sightings of the 1890s), just the format is not discussion or interview. Just one guy talking about say Milton William Cooper or George Adamski.

while we're on the subject of podcasts, has anybody got any more news on when Chris O'Brien is supposed to start his occasional (?) podcast?

I wasn't aware that Chris O'Brien owns half of The Paracast :zp:

Well I spoke to Chris myself in the months just before he left. He was really frustrated because he was supposed to be an equal partner with 50% ownership but Gene never gave him a share of the revenue from subscriptions or adverts yet expected him to do the majority of the work.

The impression I get is that it wasn't a formal contract, more of a gentleman's agreement which is always risky even if the partner is not a conman like Gene.

He did most of the work for the show and was supposed to be a partner but got nothing in return except being tarnished by Gene's worsening behaviour.

Listen to any episode from his era and it is he who does most of the interviewing, it is also clear that he is the only one that read the book or researched the topic. According to Chris, he was also the one that lined up the guests and arranged the interviews. The only thing Gene did was count the ad breaks and interject his stories about TV shows and people he knew.

In all honesty his contribution could easily be removed and those shows would actually be better. I doubt he even did any editing - knowing him he farmed it out to someone in the developing world like some other podcasts do.

So in theory, Chris might have some kind of claim on those episodes if they are sold (which personally I think is doubtful). Gene being Gene he would probably have to take him to court to get his share though and as others have said Chris seems to have decided to just make a clean break.

I don't blame him. Sometimes when you have been parasitised by a scumbag for a long time, the best thing to do for your own sanity is just cut off all ties and get away.

You might say this is somewhat similar to Steinberg wanting to sell his websites but refusing to open the financial books to a possible buyer. Steinberg wants you to just trust his word that he will follow through. O'Brien should have known better. With Steinberg you need to have it on paper and notarized.
