Yes the "quality control checks" sound plausible - I really believe they do that (sarcasm). Sounds more like an excuse for slow delivery.

I think if you order anything from Schemeberg's store you will be lucky if you ever get it - let alone the fact that it is overpriced garbage anyway.
Nice to see Gene still has the fake reviews he wrote himself up. It's amazing that he thinks people buying and receiving there crappy earbuds BEFORE the store was even up is somehow not sketchy.
Not only that but most people who buy stuff don't rate or review it, the percentage is something like 1-5%. That would suggest that at least 60 people managed to buy those shitty earbuds before the site was up. Got to be paranormal.

I looked yesterday evening at the reviews of the shitty earbuds being sold. Virtually every comment was made by Steinberg or the funny negative ones. Steinberg has removed all negative comments and left 3 positive ones when I last looked. By virtue of only positive comments posted, I am already very sure that Steinberg has his ugly finger on the posts. He is doing what he does on the Paracast forums. Delete, change and allow only fake comments that he posted himself.

I'm the "mythical Anders" and I'm the store operator of The Official Tech Night Owl Store.

- Gene truly wants to get out of his financial trouble by providing value for the listeners and fans.
- Yes, you can buy similar headphones other places on the web, but they usually ship from China and then it's 15-25 days delivery. There's nothing curious about making a profit on a product, everyone does, especially when you deliver so much free content and has done it for decades.
- The store is 100% legit with truly great products. We do offer a 30-day money back guarantee as described on the site.

If indeed Gene is really being harassed it is not coming from this forum, please do not assume otherwise...In regards to the rest of what I quoted, with all due respect I doubt you are aware of all the facts involved with Gene's begging and subsequent actions by Gene that drove off his forum membership or else you would not have swept this off so gingerly...

If this is true you should be well aware of Gene's scamming and the people such as Torsen that he has "hurt".
What utter garbage. There is no harassment going on. People have been raising awareness of Gene's grifting.
If you truly are a fan of the Paracast as you claim to be you would realise that Gene has been making ridiculous claims about turning things around for at least the last 10 years to Paracast listeners and going back even further to others on his mailing list.
How does selling crappy headphones sound in any way a realistic way to make money? It is all a delusional sideshow so he can avoid doing the one thing which would actually help him - GETTING A JOB.
The line about asking for donations nicely side steps the issue of charity fraud and asking for money under false pretences. Almost worthy of Gene himself - funny that.
A pair of earbuds which are marked as being normally $79.99 but today they are $29.99 (and can be purchased elsewhere for less than $10). No that doesn't look scammy at all. Neither do the fake reviews that Gene wrote himself.
How convenient. Did the subcontractor add the fake reviews and the fake price (79.99) too?

I wonder why all those supporters of Steinberg these days neatly ignore the information being compiled on the UFO Trail blog. Everything is laid out about how Steinberg has cheated people over the years. Anders, have you bothered to look at that website and others that tell the true story? I am quite sure you have buried your head in the sand as to what is really going on. Do as you please, but know this, virtually everyone who has had business dealings with Steinberg has been bitten in the ass. Make sure you take a number.

Which is still against the law in most places. The item has to have been at that price before it gets marked down otherwise it is considered misleading or fraudulent to consumers. Many retailers have received fines for this sort of thing.
Nobody said begging was immoral. Again you are dodging the issue which makes anything you say highly suspicious.
Gene has been committing charity fraud for at least a decade. He fabricates emergencies and then begs for money based off that.
The part where he lies is what makes it immoral.
People have gone to jail for doing similar things using large fundraisers, the only reason Gene hasn't is because he does it on a smaller scale.
Assuming you are a real person and not just sock puppet account it is clear you know nothing about Gene - selling a few earbuds and mac accessories is not going to fix Gene's situation.
The fraudulent begging goes back at least 15 years (almost 10 years of it via the Paracast). It will likely never end.
I would urge you to read the investigative posts by Jack Brewer on the UFOTrail.

Because he has said that he has only "informal" business records, there can never be an evaluation of the business. Business buyers especially look for something called "free cash flow" along with a balance sheet and so the idea that a discussion would ever occur involving attorneys etc. is an absurd fantasy.

The truth is what I'm interested in and if there's fraud going on, which I have not been able to document 100%, I would reconsider or discontinue the collaboration. I truly hope, and maybe I'm naive, that we can get some revenue that will help Gene get back on his feet. It's truly a sad situation now - but please, I have read enough to 100% confirm, that many of the theories regarding Gene are untrue, already. Regarding people suspecting that this is Gene writing, that the reviews are made by Gene etc. - this is completely 100% false.
I would encourage reasonable questions regarding Gene's practices, but please make sure you can substantiate the claims - as I can see many claims here cannot be.
I wish you all well, and I wish that the "begging" from Gene, will have an end. The more you support the store and getting great products, the sooner this will have an end.
I urge you all to be reasonable and encourage Gene's effort in this new endeavor.

It seems like there are quite a number of these authors of (natch) multiple vanity and on-demand printed books who can thereby display a well-upholstered resume in order to get gigs. They offer third hand stories, polished, embellished, and supplemented over the years in a presentation smooth enough to last a couple of hours on a radio show (or UFO conference). Really just a sad collection campfire stories to help insomniacs fall asleep.
Looks to me like that is the direction of the Paracast now. I'm sure there's pretty much a bottomless pit of those kinds of flaccid old vipers to book week after boring week for the foreseeable future. And that fits with the moribund, musty sensibility of GriftyGene himself.
