Murphy probably knows but doesn’t care about Steinberg’s character. The Paracast gives him a platform to give out his views and it basically doesn’t cost him anything.

When you hear the names Jim Moseley, Ray Palmer or Major Donald Keyhoe you know someone turned on the Way Back Machine at the Paracast. Yes, it has become an Old Men’s Reminiscence Show for the most part. They have also gotten incredibly lazy as well. How many shows on Roswell do you need to do? I never want to hear about that subject ever again.
Some months back a member posted that he wanted to buy the Paracast website. Steinberg never sold it and that person is no longer a member there. I’m sure Uncle Gene realized that his website is the calf that laid the golden egg. Without the Paracast, how is Steinberg going to be able to ask for money handouts?

the first did a bunch of UFO hoaxes in the 60's and was know for his tabloid level of reporting, later in his life he did a 180 and started becoming a skeptic and laughing in the face of ufology, forgetting that he was one of the people who started this reporting style that haunts ufology to this day
the second is either one of the most gullible people to have ever existed or a barnum wannabe depending on your view and he started the hollow earth line of thinking wich also haunts ufology to this very day

For the record: Gene Steinberg filed bankruptcy on May 9th, 2016; at that time Steinberg listed he and his wife's combined income at $2790.76. This doesn't include scam money or driving for Uber & Lyft, which he claims to do now (and for some time). Important to note, according to the eviction notice (at that time) that Steinberg himself published, is that his rent was 681.73.
During the same time frame he was sending out a salvo of scam e-mails pulling on people's heart strings and in fact indicated that it was working. The point being is that he admittedly had more money then what he himself reported as monthly income of $2800.00 (rounded off) per month.
Obviously, he could have paid his rent, had he chosen to do so.
Also, listed in his bankruptcy, is the cost to run The Paracast, etc.; according to him, his "monthly, necessary operating expenses" are $1,435.00. After this expense, he claims to net $1,037.76. If he had eliminated the Paracast, he could have paid his bills, and lived on his retirement money. Moreover, he now claims to drive for Uber and Lyft; if this is true then this would be additional income, or gravy money if you will.
Finally, Steinberg always paints a picture of utter poverty and dire straits; however, the facts demonstrate that those are blatant lies. Moreover, it is a safe bet that many who fell for Steinberg's con, make less money the he and his wife bring in, not counting scam money.
Again, the legal, simple, definition for fraud is:
“… wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.”
Steinberg should be prosecuted; victims of Gene Steinberg should file complaints with the proper authorities, which are listed above in this thread.
Additionally, as mentioned above, bankruptcy fraud is a major crime, and monetary gifts have to be listed. He's been running his scam and receiving money (by his own admission) for 12 years, and there is no mention of these (so-called) donations.

When i suggested i buy the forum off him, i wanted to know the ongoing costs, i had made it clear i would be doing this as a hobby, and as a way of preserving it going forward.
I was doing him a favour essentially, i would take over the running costs. Preserve it going forward and pay him some money to help him with his rent.
He told me it costs bugger all to host
Not an honest it costs $1,435.00 a month answer.(which is in and of itself a lie methinks)
He then asked me to "invest" in the brand, rather than buy it. IE: give me money for nothing.
As a bankrupt that was a dodgy thing to ask.

This might be my favorite Paracast/Jim Moseley story. Don Ecker appeared on the Paracast and Jim Moseley's name came up. Ecker said that if Moseley had somehow self combusted, Ecker would not pull out his 'Johnson' to urinate on him and put out the fire. That brought silence from Steinberg, who was a good buddy of Moseley's.

There is something fishy here, He has to know he cant pay for a roof over his head via donations.
He has to know that he doesnt make enough income to pay rent, hasnt been able to for a long long time.
That his fortunes are not going to change, will in fact get worse over time.

Even if he paid premium hosting for his site the cost still would not climb up to almost 1500 a year much less per month...That sounds like a deliberate lie to me, I cannot see how his running costs are that much per month, especially with all the stupid ads all over his pages...
As far as the other bit about having more money than he claims, I have thought this was probably the case from the start, over all the years he was never in the destitute state he claims to be in...
