The British government's newly revamped Covid data portal indicates that there have been more than 126,000 cumulative hospitalizations for Covid since March in the UK:

About a third of these admissions have died.

Its been a calm period now and ive actually been able to see my friends. That may end in a while again, but at least now im enjoying whatever rest period we were granted.

I was in a furniture store a few weeks ago and a guy at the door put a pistol shaped thermometer to my forehead. Come on! What's next, a rectal exam?

Everywhere I have been in the last month, the staff have gone out of their way to be kind, polite and helpful. No one has come near me with a thermometer. I have been asked to use the free hand sanitizer provided upon entrance.

My mother wanted to get out of the house today, she's barely left her house since early March, so we went out to eat lunch, drive thru at Subway, then went to Walmart...We both stocked up on some food, I bought enough to last two weeks easily and the same with dog food, I bought Kobi enough food to last him a couple weeks at least...She bought a few things, not as much as I did lol...Most people in Walmart were wearing masks, I would say about one out of ten people did not have a mask on...

For the most part, the people of the small town we were at today did wear masks, I'd say about 5 percent did not...On my way home I stopped at the liquor store, not for myself but for my uncle...They have a big sign in front; No one allowed inside the store without a mask, police will be called for any issues with this order, or something to that effect....The liquor stores in NC are state run so yeah they have no problem calling the law for any problems...

Instead of like in the old days you would have a bunch of under aged kids hanging around the liquor store hoping that someone will buy liquor for them, now you will have people without masks and homeless people waiting to see if masked people will purchase for them. lol

Why don't they just provide masks for people? That's what they do here. Everywhere I go I get offered a mask for free.

I've seen a couple places giving out masks but that was near a bigger city which I don't go driving to anymore since they have a big surge in cases lately...I haven't seen anyone giving away masks at the small town I shop at, but the local Walmart there has a big wall full of them for sale, 17.95 for a box of 50...

So, just cities are doing it? I've been to Walmart, Costco, Safeway (groceries), Little Caesars Pizza, Bank, My mechanic, and the Federal Registry office. Each place offers free masks and free hand sanitizer at the entrance.
I just checked the news and there appears to be 40 new cases linked to Edmonton restaurants. Whatever that means. It was a video that is 6 hours old. I didn't watch it.

Same thing happened to us. Walked in and had someone check our temperatures with a gun looking thing only an inch or two from my face. Off putting.

I could see that if you had to go to a doctor's office or an ER or a nursing home. Seems a bit over the top for couch shopping. But, is that's what it takes so be it - no skin off my nose but a lot of folks make a production of it.

I got a call early this morning from my mom, she said my uncle who is in Kentucky in a nursing home has the coronavirus and is very sick...Apparently someone went to visit a relative in that nursing home and he/she had the virus and got it spreading there now...

There are 50 new cases confirmed today in the county I live in, a huge spike for the rural area here, ugh...I don't plan on leaving the house until Tuesday or Wednesday next week unless its even worse then I won't go anywhere next week either, I have plenty of food and supplies and plenty of work to do at home...The garden is starting to produce veggies too, I picked a handful of green beans today, as a matter of fact lol, and going to cook them up tomorrow along with however many more I pick tomorrow...There's also small tomatoes and small watermelons out there too, and the rest will be producing very soon...

I'm really sorry to hear about your uncle, Nivek. q45 Is he your mom's brother?

I wish I had a place to grow veggies. Store bought veggies have no flavor.

I went to my mom's house this morning to hook up a new DVD player for her, this was the first time since early March that I went inside her house...We were both wearing masks the entire time I was there, better to be safe for her sake...

I don't want anyone to think that I am feeling care free and frivolous when I say this but, there is so much false information and home remedies and nutters pretending to be professionals at this and even false/fake news broadcasts so, I don't keep up with the news. I just take it as it comes and listen to those that I trust.

When did they find this new strain of Covid 19? I'm wondering how long it takes to mutate.

Your uncle will at least get taken better care of where he is now. Did he have health issues before this? Has your mom been able to talk to him over the phone?

You are the first person that I know that has had a relative affected by this. I mean we have the whole world at our fingertips. I speak globally to people everyday through the internet and you are the first person that I have come across that is facing this fight with a loved one.

I wish you and yours nothing but the best and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, Nivek.

Yes he is a diabetic and obese, he may have some other previous health issues that I'm not aware of, I wasn't close to him and haven't talked to him for years...Right now he isn't responsive and she hasn't been able to talk to him since he went to the hospital, he also has a kidney infection and one of his kidneys are failing the doctor said yesterday...

Here's one source I read about his new strain, it seems to be more highly contagious than previously...

Study confirms new version of coronavirus spreads faster, but doesn't make people sicker
