‘Merry Ham-mas’ Christmas bag sparks criticism, gets pulled from Kmart in Australia

Kmart Australia apologized and removed a Christmas ham bag after a Jewish group criticized the item’s “Merry Ham-mas” pun.

The Christmas ham bag was available for $4 at Australian Kmart stores, The West Australian reported. Photos show the tan-colored drawstring bag emblazoned with “Merry Ham-mas,” a Christmas tree, some stars, a present and pieces of holly.

“Check out the special Christmas bag currently available via K-Mart online. Yes, it’s real!!” the Australian Jewish Association wrote in a Nov. 7 post on Twitter, now rebranded as X. “Although this is potentially funny … it’s really not a good look.”

The Jewish group criticized the pun’s similarity to the name of Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group based in the Gaza Strip and currently at war with Israel. The group asked that the store remove the bag.

Kmart Australia told McClatchy News that “we got it wrong on this occasion, and we apologize unreservedly.”

Moon landing conspiracy theorists say this photo is new ‘hoax’ proof

Moon landing conspiracy theorists say this photo is new ‘hoax’ proof

By

Was the giant leap for mankind really just a giant lie?

Conspiracy theorists think so.

The theory that the Apollo 11 moon landing was a hoax by the US government lives on, despite video and photo evidence of Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong planting the country’s flag in space.

While conspiracy theorists believe it would have been cheaper and easier to fake the landing than to really achieve it, there have been six manned moon landings, which took place from 1969 to 1972.

Despite theories circulating about the first landing being fabricated, the others have not been exempt from disbelievers.

In fact, the same theorists believe they’ve spotted an odd figure in the visor of one of the astronauts in a clip of the 1972 Apollo 17 mission.

The Apollo 17 moon landing isn't safe from conspiracy theorists, as one claims a strange figure appears in an astronaut's visor.'t safe from conspiracy theorists, as one claims a strange figure appears in an astronaut's visor. Marking the last manned trip to the moon, the astronauts on board — commander Gene Cernan, lunar module pilot Harrison “Jack” Schmitt and command module pilot Ronald Evans — were the final people to touch down.

In a video titled “Reflection in a Visor. Where’s the reflection of the camera taking the photo?” user Streetcap1 claims the shot has evidence of illegitimacy as he narrates his findings in the clip, which was posted in 2017.

The YouTuber claims a reflection in the visor of one of the astronauts shows a “stagehand” — and, allegedly, the person is not wearing a spacesuit, furthering claims of fabrication.

Astronaut on the moon Citing this image, the YouTuber zoomed in on the astronaut’s visor, pointing to a figure that didn’t seem to fit the scene.YouTube/Streetcap1
“You can see some sort of, it looks like a man, back in the early ’70s, long hair, wearing some sort of waistcoat-type thing… and a shadow of that figure, presumably,” the narrator claimed, using his mouse to outline the figure as he talks.

“Where’s this guy’s space suit?” he continued later in the clip, which has been viewed more than 2.8 million times.

But not everyone in the comments was convinced of the YouTuber’s supposed discovery.

Astronaut on the moon For decades, conspiracy theorists have continued to claim that the landings were a hoax.Getty Images
“The curvature of the astronaut’s visor causes a fish-eye lens effect. Just Google ‘fish eye lens pics’ and you will see how distorted they are. When you look at the shadow you can clearly see the boxy shape of his life support system,” argued one user in the comments.

“To me it clearly looks like another astronaut with the white, bulky spacesuit. you can see that he has both arms slightly stretched forward and the shadow shows the bulkyness of the spacesuit, including the life support on his back,” another commented.

“I’ve always thought it was a hoax since we didn’t go back in modern times,” claimed someone else.

Cernan welcomed back to earth in the Pacific Ocean by Navy Pararescueman Theorists don’t believe Cernan (right) touched down on the moon.Getty Images
Nonbelievers of the Apollo missions claim the US government fabricated each intergalactic journey in order to beat the rest of the world to the moon and win the “space race.”

Despite being widely debunked, many theorists continue to perpetuate even the wildest of claims.

Some say the flag was rippling in the wind, but NASA created a special flag to use in space since there would be no wind to keep the flag upright, which would have made an unflattering photo. Meanwhile, others ground their disbelief in the fact that stars aren’t visible or that shadows don’t seem to align with light sources.

Just a few months after this post India's Chandrayaan 2 provided photo evidence confirming the original Moon landings.

In April 2021 the ISRO Chandrayaan-2 orbiter captured an image of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module Eagle descent stage. The orbiter's image of Tranquility Base, the Apollo 11 landing site, was released to the public in a presentation on September 3, 2021.-Wikipedia

Mystery mounts as cattle turn up dead with tongues removed in Texas

Six cattle were mysteriously found dead with their tongues “completely removed” and no sign of blood spilled — mystifying Texas authorities this week.
Ranchers in Madison County found a 6-year-old longhorn-cross cow lying on her side, deceased and mutilated, along a state highway in east-central Texas, the Madison County Sheriff’s office said on Wednesday.

The animal’s tongue had been “completely removed from the body with no blood spill” after a “straight, clean cut, with apparent precision” had been made to remove the hide around the cow’s mouth on one side, according to the sheriff’s office. The cow did not seem to struggle during the incident, as the grass around the animal was undisturbed, officials said.
No footprints or tire tracks were found in the area. Ranchers also said there were no predators or birds trying to scavenge the remains of the cow, which decayed untouched for several weeks.

While investigating the longhorn-cross’ perplexing death, authorities discovered there had been five other similar occurrences along the same state highway, located in Brazos County and Robertson County.
Four adult cows and one yearling were reported dead by similar occurrences, lying on one side with the exposed side of their face cut along the jaw line.
Cows Six cattle were mysteriously found dead with their tongues removed along a highway in east-central Texas.

None of the cows seemed to struggle when they died, authorities said.
All five also had their tongues “completely removed,” the sheriff’s office said.
On two of the five cows, authorities discovered that “a circular cut was made removing the anus and the external genitalia.” The cut had been made with “the same precision” as the cuts along the cow’s jaws.
In the later discoveries, there were also no signs of disturbances in the grass, no blood spilled and no noticeable tracks in the area. No predators or birds were seen scavenging the remains for several weeks after death.

The cause of death for the six cows is currently unknown, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said.
Officials in Madison County are working with other agencies to try and solve the puzzle.
Similar incidents have been reported across the country, including in Colorado, where dozens of cattle were slaughtered this fall by an elusive predator that left behind no tracks.

In October, 18 dead cows were found just outside the town of Meeker. Some looked as though they were killed by wolves, but officials with Colorado Parks and Wildlife found no wolf tracks or evidence of the predator in the area.
By November, at least 40 calves were reported dead.

Dog in South Carolina rescued from dryer vent

Police and firefighters in South Carolina rescued a curious dog whose head got stuck in a dryer vent at his owner's home. The Sumter Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers and firefighters responded to a home on Warren Court when a dog named Spike poked through a dryer vent and ended up with his head outside the house, while the rest of his body remained indoors. The responders were able to widen the opening so Spike's could pull his head back inside. Police wrote the "happy hound was freed from his unfortunate circumstance and is doing fine, probably looking to see what else he can get into for the day."

Texas woman finds opossum hiding in her Christmas tree after it sneezes: ‘Don’t know how it got in here’

A Texas woman has gone viral after capturing the moment she found an uninvited guest hiding in her Christmas tree.

Brett Ingram, 29, a media marketing manager based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, told Fox News Digital she was finishing up some work at home when she heard a soft sneeze.

“I kept working thinking I was maybe just hearing things. Then I heard it again with some other squeaking noises,” she said.

At first she thought her cat had brought in a rat, or that some small kittens somehow entered her home, she said.

After looking under her couches and behind her curtains, Ingram finally found the source of the mysterious noise, she said.

“As I’m down crouched behind [my couch], I look over to the left and I just see his tail. A long, naked, rat-looking tail,” she said.

“I stopped and kind of looked up some more and saw a large breathing ball of gray fur.”

Ingram made her way around the front of the tree and located the culprit — an opossum.

Ingram said she reached out to a friend who is a wildlife and rehab volunteer, but because it was late and the volunteers don’t take night calls, the friend shared some steps on how best to remove the creature from her tree and her home.

“I just didn’t want to hurt him. I was really just calling for concern [to see] if babies were in [the animal’s] pouch,” Ingram said.

Ingram said her friend told her she’d be able to pull the opossum from the tree — but it became more of a challenge than Ingram anticipated.
1702899340906.png

“I started to try to get him out, but he was holding onto the branches,” she said. “He had some strength because he was big.”

Ingram was wearing gloves to protect herself from the marsupial as she plucked each of its fingers off the branches to release it from the Christmas tree.

Once Ingram had pried the creature from the tree, it squirmed out of her hands and ran under her couch, she said.

“He ran behind the tree under the other couch and I kept moving it, and he would just do it again over and over,” Ingram recalled.
Ingram said she finally pushed the couch aside and was able to pick up the opossum under her arm just “like a cat or dog.”

The opossum was showing its teeth, she said — but there was no hissing.

Ingram was able to calm the animal down before setting it outside her door and releasing it into the neighborhood.

Ingram said she didn’t panic after finding the animal, but wanted to “assess its behavior” and do whatever she could to make sure it was safe.
opossum-texas-1-1.jpg

She is an animal lover and has many pets, including three dogs, two pythons, a bearded dragon and a cat.

She documented the moment when she found the opossum and shared it on TikTok. The video has garnered roughly 6.6 million views.

She believes the animal may have been inside her home for at least a couple of days before she found it, she said, though she’s unsure how it got inside.

While both possums and opossums are marsupials — the two animals have their differences.

Opossums were reportedly discovered in Virginia in the 17th century by John Smith and are the only marsupials found in North America.

“Though ‘opossum’ is sometimes shortened to ‘possum’ in North America, with the two words often being used synonymously, this is technically a misnomer,” according to Terminix, a pest control management organization.

Possums were first discovered in Australia in the late 1700s.

“Unlike opossums, possums have furry tails — which is how they got the name brushtail possums — and are found throughout Australia,” Terminix wrote online.

Australian possums have shorter, less pointed snouts in comparison to the opossums found in North America.

It has been two weeks since Ingram posted her viral video and the opossum has not made another appearance outside her home.

Meanwhile, she’s checking her security cameras in case it decides to make another visit, she said.

Father, son daringly stop out-of-control semi-truck after driver passed out on Kansas highway: ‘We’re just good farm guys’

Father, son daringly stop out-of-control semi-truck after driver passed out on Kansas highway: ‘We’re just good farm guys’

It was an action movie come to life.

A Kansas farmer and his son are being hailed as heroes after they made a daring rescue of a semi-truck driver who suffered a medical episode on a highway.

The trucker was traveling west on Interstate 70 in Sherman County on Tuesday when he suddenly “blacked out” behind the wheel, Sherman County Sheriff Burton Pianalto said.

The truck entered the median and fortunately stayed between both lanes of traffic for about a quarter mile as it slowed down.

When the father and son duo who were traveling in the same direction spotted the out-of-control truck, they leapt into action like something out of a James Bond movie.

The truck had slowed down enough that the son, Brady Ginther, was able to jump onto the vehicle’s passenger side. He tried to get inside, but the door was locked.

Ginther asked his father, Brent Ginther, to throw him a hammer. He caught it and then smashed the window, crawled into the truck and brought it to a stop about one-eighth of a mile before a 30-foot drop.

“This action more than likely saved the life of the truck driver along with protecting all the other travelers on I-70 and Highway 27,” Pianalto said.

“It is amazing what people will do to help others they do not know.”

Brent Ginther told KWCH that he’s often on the highway traveling to and from his farming land in western Kansas and eastern Colorado. He said he initially didn’t think much of the truck when he first saw it.

“I said, ‘What the heck is going on there?’ And all my hired men who were with me just said, ‘Well, there’s nobody driving that truck’,” he said.
He said they realized that they needed to shut the truck off when his son bravely lept aboard.

The truck “got it shut off just in time,” he said.

Brent and Brady Ginther are receiving a lot of love from the community for their quick thinking since the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office shared the story on social media.
“They need some kind of enormous award from the mayor, governor, and president. This is incredible,” one Facebook user opined, while another wrote, “Absolutely remarkable they were able to make this happen. Thankful they were in the right place and willing to help. Hero for sure.”
“We appreciate everything and (we’re) just good farm guys and we’d help anybody in a situation if anybody needed help,” Brent Ginther said.

Louisiana grandmother goes to hospital with headache, wakes up with no memory of past 30 years — and thinks she was teen still in ‘80s

Louisiana grandmother goes to hospital with headache, wakes up with no memory of past 30 years — and thinks she was teen still in ‘80s

Published Dec. 24, 2023, 3:03 a.m. ET

A Louisiana grandmother who went to the hospital with a headache claimed she cannot remember her memories from the past 30 years, believing she was a teenager in the 1980s when she woke up in a wild extensive amnesia case.
Kim Denicola was 56 years old when she developed an intense headache and blurry vision while at a bible study group in Baton Rogue, La. in Oct. 2018.
When she awoke in the hospital emergency room, Denicola had no recollection that she was married and had two children.
“I’ve lost a lot of Christmases, so it’s a big deal,” Denicola, now 60, told WAFB.
“It’s unbelievable to me as it probably is to other people,” Denicola added.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I get up and go to bible study and think I’m going to wake up in the hospital and I’m going to be 60 years old.”
Denicola was unaware that computers existed and that the country’s leaders had changed hands several times when she woke up.

“‘Do you know what today is, what year are you in?” Denicola recalled a nurse asking.
“I said, ‘Yeah, 1980.’ And she said, ‘Can you tell me who the president is?’ I said, ‘Yes, Ronald Regan.’ And she stopped.”

“TVs are now smart. The TV I remember was a box that sat against a wall that we had to get up and go change the channel,” she told the outlet two months after her medical scare.
Denicola was diagnosed with extensive amnesia, officially transient global amnesia or TGA, but doctors still can not determine the exact cause even after extensive tests and scans, according to the outlet.

Five years after she suffered the migraine that changed her life, the nearly 60-year-old grandmother has still not recovered memories.
Doctors are afraid she will never get her memory back.

“They told me, if by now I haven’t gotten it, then I probably won’t,” she told outlet.
TGA is a “temporary, anterograde amnesia with an acute onset” that mostly affects individuals middle-aged and older, according to the National Library of Medicine, with 5.2-10 people of 10,000 suffering annually with the number rising to 23.5-32/100,000 individuals over the age of 50.

It often occurs during periods of “particularly strenuous activity, high-stress events, or coitus, but it can be seen with migraines.”
The memory condition is often a temporary event and can reoccur, but death is very rare.
Denicola has been reading journal entries in a bid to remember her life but says it feels like reading about someone else.
Denicola has rekindled her love for her husband and watched her children grow up through her stories and pictures.

What do you think? Post a comment.
While it seems she lost 30 years of her life, Denicola is still living each year the best she could.

“I may have lost my memories, but guess what? We can make new ones,” she told WAFB.

Security Camera Films Goblin in Argentina

A peculiar piece of security footage from Argentina shows a small shadowy figure sprinting along the side of a road and some believe that the eerie runner was a goblin. According to a local media report, the strange scene unfolded on Christmas Eve in the town of José de San Martín and was captured by a camera connected to the home of a police officer in the community. The puzzling footage begins with a dog furiously barking as it stands at the front gate of a house. Seconds later, a seemingly hunched-over figure runs down the road with such tremendous speed that it appears blurry in the video until it eventually disappears from the camera's view.

Upon being posted online, the video quickly went viral on social media in Argentina with various theories being offered for what the security camera captured. Some speculated that the figure could be a goblin of Latin American lore known as a duende. That said, not everyone was convinced of that explanation as more skeptical observers argued that the 'creature' was simply a person who appeared to look unusual due to the distance and lighting as well as the speed with which they ran. And, of course, some dismiss the video as being a computer-generated hoax.

Delta plane passengers are left horrified after a fellow traveler pooped 'in their SEAT' on a flight - and left the feces 'spread out like peanut butter'

Plane passengers have been horrified after a fellow traveler pooped their pants on their flight - and left the feces 'spread out like peanut butter' all over the seat.

One of the disgusted travelers took to Reddit to share their dismay over the situation - and it quickly went viral.

The Reddit user explained that they were on an early morning Delta flight from Birmingham, Alabama, to Atlanta, Georgia, with their eight-year-old daughter on Christmas Eve, and about 20 minutes after takeoff, they started to smell something 'terrible.'

At first, they feared that their daughter might have had an accident, but the youngster insisted that she hadn't.

The traveler said the horrid scent lingered for the rest of the plane ride - and it wasn't until after they landed and they began to disembark that they discovered the cause.

On their way out, the Reddit user said they noticed that one of the chairs about eight rows ahead of where they had been seated was 'covered' in 's**t.'

They said the defecation had engulfed the entire area - including the bottom and back of the seat.

'Me and my daughter were headed to Key West on Christmas Eve and had to take a connecting flight from Birmingham to Atlanta,' they wrote.

'About 20 minutes into flight I get a terrible smell and asked my daughter if she has [pooped] (she's eight).

'She denies any wrong-doing and the smell lingers for the rest of the flight. Upon exiting the plane, eight rows in front of me, [I see] someone had s**t all in their seat.

'The bottom of the seat and the back was covered. This person had [sat] in their s**t for a good hour and then departed into Atlanta airport covered in s**t. Definitely a first for me.'

In the comments section, the poster added that they had taxied on the runway for 'a good 45 minutes,' which meant the person had been sitting in their excrement the entire time.

A secret tunnel in a NYC synagogue leads to a brawl between police and worshippers

A group of Hasidic Jewish worshippers were arrested amid a dispute over a tunnel secretly dug into the side of a historic Brooklyn synagogue, setting off a brawl between police and those who tried to defend the makeshift passageway.

The discovery of the tunnel at the Chabad-Lubavitch world headquarters in Crown Heights prompted an emergency structural inspection from the city Tuesday.

The building at 770 Eastern Parkway was once home to the movement’s leader, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, and draws thousands of visitors each year. Its Gothic Revival facade is immediately recognizable to adherents of the Chabad movement and replicas of the revered building have been constructed all over the world.

Motti Seligson, a spokesperson for Chabad, said a “group of extremist students” had secretly broken through the walls of a vacant building behind the headquarters, creating an underground passage beneath a row of office buildings and lecture halls that eventually connected to the synagogue.

Hmm.. people who have been labeled as extremists , digging tunnels under synagogues.
....

Its enough to make one wonder if they were going to use explosives to bring down a whole neighborhood.

Tactically speaking , those tunnels weren't dug with the greatest care of keeping those building erect .. It leads me to wonder what the difference between an extremist and a terrorist is? Does intent matter? I mean weather they intended for the building to fall doesn't mean they couldn't have or still can't. Something smells extra fishy about this situation.
