I went to the dentist yesterday and they put in my new crown. They did an excellent job. I get my work done at the medical college in the town where I live. It has a large, nationally prominent dental school. The reason I go there is because I don't have dental insurance but they charge less than half the price of a regular dentist.
The problem I have is that they like to keep up with all the latest techniques. This means that, heaven forbid, they don't use an old fashioned spit sink -- they have to suction everything out instead and they do a really lousy job. There is nothing that beats a good old-fashioned rinse and spit!
I don't mind if they poke or drill but I have a real problem when they put all of the rubber shit in my mouth and tilt me way back in the chair. I swear it must be what it feels like to be water boarded! You're hanging down and all this water and crap is going in your mouth. It all makes me really anxious but the dental students could care less. They just want to get everything right so they'll look good for the dental instructors.
They tried to use the new "rubber dam", which is basically an extra wide condom they attach to your lower teeth but I freaked out this time and wouldn't let them put it on. They have a huge rubber wedge they use on me instead for "people who can't handle the rubber dam". I'm not a violent person but I seriously wanted to rip the thing out of my mouth several times and start beating the little brats with it.
Even though the appointment was on Monday, I can't get it out of my mind.
