Well i really dont post much on here anymore. Ive been busy, work, wife, grandkids, hobbies. Kinda excited I`m almost out of debt. I only have 5 or 6 more payments on my house, and bout the same time, i should have a credit card payed off as well. Gonna be strange not having a mortgage payment.

Gonna be strange not having a mortgage payment.

It's liberating after all those years.

Younger people in my family have done some weird Debt math. When you are young I understand you need to establish credit. I remember doing that and I bought and paid off the Craftsman tool set that I still use almost daily.

Remember when credit cards weren't the same size we take for granted now? My Sears card was skinny by comparison. Ker-chunk with the old carbon copy machine. I rolled a joint with one of those weird types of paper once. Interesting.

My 20 y/o great nephew has come up with all sorts of gobbdeygook to justify the 'credit building' he's done with cars he absolutely doesn't need to go along with the brand new child he has produced. My niece, his mother, causally told me about her debt which somehow she doesn't see as debt. See? You can have a money fire and just rationalize it away. Some debit is unavoidable at certain points in our lives but I know they don't understand how deep a hole it is they are digging.

I'm with you - pay it off. Can't save while you owe.

I put a minerelli vertical topend on my 2 stroke bicycle. What a big difference. Almost to much power. Not yet. But maybe for this 20240601_110418.jpgframe.

I read some very positive reviews of that engine. Very cool but not for kids ... not yours anyway .... :)

You have helmet laws out yonder ?

New York requires them but neighboring Connecticut does not. It was common to see guys stop just over the border and remove them, or put them on depending on which direction they are headed. Often it's one of those novelty helmets. Some don't even wear glasses or goggles.

I've ridden without helmets, half helmets and in shorts and t-shirts. Was also a distance cyclist for years on the roads. I've also been down hard more than once and had a number of scrapes over the years. I always used a quality DOT approved 3/4 helmet or something appropriate for my bicycle @ 20mph and gloves. At least on a bicycle the first thing that hits the pavement is always your hands.

Ask me how I figured that out. Ouch.

I prefer to keep my sweetbreads where they belong and don't want to enjoy all the freedom not wearing a helmet gives you. Like Gary Busey.

I do have a couple of German ww2 bicycle helmets. I do need to get some hand protection and have thought about getting elbow and knee pads like skateboarders use. I'm not sure if its law to wear a helmet or not. Just has to be under 80cc 1 gear under 30mph and no loader than 100 decibels abouts.

I'd toss modern helmets at 5 years no matter what they looked like, bicycle or motorcycle. They're perishable.

One of my customers did quality control and testing on all sorts of things and told me that. Stuck with me.

I was outside tuning a 21mm carb today when a c 130 Hercules flew low over my house I'd say close 500ft high had a helicopter right behind it. I live close to an airbase but this seemed odd. There is an ol runway north of town it was heading for. The runway is dirt and hasn't been used ever since I remember. Just seemed odd

Why did that Coyne helicopter case and the explanation @Creepy Green Light gave

Sometimes things happen.

Actually I let the air out before I messed with it to be safe
Wasn't particularly serious - bad for you, that. I remember going to a particular junkyard to buy tires specifically to roast them and he'd throw ones like that in for free. I could bring back the mess too and he'd take it. I walked in there a couple of years ago and ran into the same guy literally unchanged. It took me a minute to stand there and compute that I was looking at his son .....

I made my last house payment. It's getting finalized and such. Now to pay off a tiny credit card and I'll be debt free. :)
