It's an older mower but works great, $65 for a coil vs 150 or 200 for a new mower that's comparable...

We're getting to be like Arizona in LA. People are converting their lawns to rock gardens. Grass just doesn't do well here anymore. Regardless of what species it'll get burnt by the sun.

I have never seen so much traffic in my sleepy little town this morning...I hear the interstate which is 10 miles away is shut down on one side due to moving barriers and setting them in place for upcoming highway renovations...I needed to run some errands this late morning and what should have taken me an hour took three hours, all these big rigs and buses and hundreds of cars, no end in sight...ugh

Looks like the traffic is bypassing right through my town, fortunately not near where I live though since I'm off the main routes and through roads...Looks like I'm just going to stay home this weekend, I don't like traffic, not in the country...In the city yeah I expect it and accept it, but I live in a small town of less than 2000 people for the peace and quiet...

Did they have any kind of posted notice that diversion would take place?

Did they have any kind of posted notice that diversion would take place?

They probably announced it in the local newspaper but I don't read that and I'm not one to find out the plans of the town and county here, I don't get much news about what happens locally unless someone from my family or a friend tells me lol...I was never one to read a local newspaper or go to the local town website and see what's going on...I'm sure there was notification somewhere but I didn't see it lol...

By watching very little TV you save yourself the effect of the flicker rate. Jeff Rense said TV is the biggest thief of time.

There's that, with the flicker rate, many studies have been done on this potential problem of flickering artificial light...

Potential Biological and Ecological Effects of Flickering Artificial Light

Also many other reasons for shunning a television too or at least minimizing viewing time, this reminds me of a book I read years ago, this link has some excerpts...

Its 98 degrees here and I'm about to replace the drive belt on my riding mower that broke while I was mowing earlier...The mower is out on the other side of the meadow under a big oak tree with a broken belt, at least I have shade...Be back in a little while...

oddly also 98F outside here, 18% humidity and light wind, quite nice in the shade.
I just got back from working on my riding mower,
trying to get it to start better,
loosing 4V in the starting system somewhere, and it does not start well on 8V at the starter
just replaced the solenoid and the battery cables and it changed nothing
now I am wondering if the starter is grounded well enough
I did the work out in full sun,

corn is a grass,
never seen it get burnt by the sun.
but likely not the sort of "lawn" you are looking for ?
ever tried succulents or other non grass ground cover ?
do you have water restrictions ?

We have 65% humidity, its not pleasant in the shade lol...There was virtually no breeze until I finished 2 hours later...It's replaced and drove the mower back home...

Did you check the coil?...Could be losing the 4 volts there...

that sounds quite uncomfortable out there,
the drive belts sure don't look easy to get to on them
and your 2 hours to change it just verified that for me

mine has magnetos, they are not connected to the battery system at all.

I can check for voltage drop with a volt meter, so I can tell the issue is somewhere between the battery and the starter
the issue is that it is not consistent,
and can't seem to catch the problem happening in any particular section with the meter connected.
but now I have huge battery cables that are new, and a new solenoid, so that is not the issue,
it did just occur to me that it is likely the only thing I did not replace, the cable from the solenoid to the starter. it looks good, but I guess it is next to get replaced

I got it for free because it had electrical issues.
not even sure how they ran it long enough to have so many thing broken on it, but maybe the electrical broke all at once
I am about 3 wires short of having replaced the electric entirely.
and seems to me that they were not meant to be parked out in the rain

Well I could have shaved 30 minutes off of that...I heard that in order to get the drive belt on you had to unbolt the engine and slide it back enough to get the belt around the pulley...I didn't do that first, I wanted to try a couple different methods but both of my ideas failed, so I had to unbolt the motor as I heard and slide it back enough, sure enough it worked smoothly lol...Lost a gallon of water in sweat trying my ideas lol...

I was thinking coil because it sounds like a leak because of a crack somewhere or moisture somewhere draining off the current, a cracked wire or solenoid housing but you have a new solenoid so...

Rikki and I closed on this small used car. On August 11th 2018 this little car will be given to our twin girls.
At 16 bolth can legally drive! In the mean time bolth have underage learning permits. (In Wisconsin you can get a permit 6 months before your 16th birthday.)
Best thing about it is they are helping to pay for it!
Hard to believe they are going to start high school and drive soon.

What brand is it? When i was in college the Najib's government gave me allowance, i want to buy a old audi model with it but my mother didn't allow me to buy it :(

My yard is so small I only need a weed trimmer to cut it. The problem I have is that it's so hot the line melts and fuses together so it can't be bumped out. I have to keep manually extending it. Really annoying.
