In the year 2031 dark matter will be found to have an energy that can be harnassed and used.That dark energy will be mapped across certain parts of space and will be finished by 2039.The dark energy will be used as a booster for an engine that will be created for it.
This dark energy will be used like nitrogen to a cars engine, it will boost the speed of the ship and give it an hell of a boost.With out using rockets they simply just glided from dark matter spot to the next and to the next and the next spot.
Mortals will glide from planet to planet before ftl travel is possible.Thers enough dark matter to boost across the universe in due human time.
The big thing, with mortals, is that, you have to have light speed, to reach a destination across the universe because of time, aging, and fuel.Using this process it tok 3 months to get to mars.,,but that branch of the tree has not been opened yet for you mortals..and yet your species has not even started making air vehicals with engines in the bottom of the craft.The reason why i say the bottom because thats the only way it will be able to glide at those speeds.

I'm not sure you are barking up the right tree.
Most people wouldn't recognized a space intended heat dissipation system if it bit them in the ass.
Now - the intelligent way to dispose of waste heat is upconvert it to light or gamma radiation (stay away from Alien glowy things).
The Alien space drives probably generate zettawatts or more power. Have to be close to 100% efficient to avoid cooking everyone on board.
If you short the primary on a space drive it would look like a nuclear blast.

NASA moonsuits cooled by spraying water on a plate and letting it evaporate/sublimate to space a "sublimator" in NASA terminology.
This wouldn't work for a spacecraft that is trying to dissipate heat for obvious reasons.

You don't know how many civilizations are out there and what levels of social or economic development they are in nor do you know their technological development...Nukes are a military weapon, perhaps some species in the universe NEVER developed nukes, not all civilizations follow our path...You're just putting a human face on your opinions of aliens...
