Stabbing of Asian-American 2-Year-Old and Her Family Was a Virus-Fueled Hate Crime: Feds

this and the fight I witnessed makes me want to puke...
I've been consciously forestalling a discussion about the potentially catastrophic social ramifications of this outbreak on our nation because I was hoping that the coronavirus stimulus checks would arrive in time to side-step or at least delay a breakdown of American society...but since the writing is literally on the wall at this point, prudence demands that we consider the reality of our situation.Racist graffiti and rise in anti-Asian messages at UW-Madison prompt virtual town halls
more ignorant racist actions due to the pandemic.
Well it has to be one of the two scenarios that is taking young fit and well people. A randomness that begs a question. From the front line professionals who have perished I gathered it was during to massive exposurem but that picture isn't the same for some others.
That's my problem with the whole issue. The rest of the world goes on lockdown to avoid death at mass, And what do we do here? We Talk about American Pride and Spirit?Watched the briefing last night. There was a gem in there that many probably missed. Pence answered a question - don't even remember what it was - and gave a real bullshit answer invoking 'American spirit' or whatever. DT laughed and said something like 'you're a real pro Mike. You spoke for 5 minutes and never even touched the question' You could see Pence just shrivel. I was rolling on the floor ......

I hate to say this, And some people may hate me for saying that, But, Look at our numbers of infected, Look at our death toll, And Instead of lockdowns we talk about American Pride?
It is entirely possible that America may be literally the slowest kid in class. I'm just saying, At what point do we blame the virus directly, and at what point do we begin accounting for stupidity and pride?
This may be the most unamerican thing I've ever said, But, Whoomp There it is..
I get that calming people down is important, But numbers don't lie our actually handling of this tactically is very very poor. Like the worst in the world so far. Save for Italy.Success has many mothers but failure is an orphan. Easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize what's been done, when it was done, how it's been done, etc. Put the loudest critics in the Oval Office and honestly tell me they would have done anything earlier, more effectively, any of that. Jeering doesn't require talent, being on stage does. As for the efficacy of the response, time will tell and as I say, the s**t will come out in the wash.
Invoking feel-good emotion is a standard tactic despite what little bearing it may have on reality. First club out of the bag for the unimaginative. Pence just did what all politicians on both sides of the aisle do. It's like looking at the backside of a cow and somehow being surprised at what comes out. The truly surprising thing was being called out on it on a national platform.

No, it's true. There is no way to shut literally everything down, But we could still do more than we are doing though. I assume places like FEMA simply can not ever shut down. Nor could hospitals. Nor those places that supply them,OK. Rewind to the date you'd like. Last Christmas? January 15th? Pick one. Then go on TV and shut down the whole economy, ban travel, command people to isolate, all that.
Realistically how do you think that would go? Anybody - DT or not - would have found that a tough sell. The people demanding investigations now for all the 'blood on Donald trump's hands' would have been the first to pipe up and try to stop it.
And don't take that wrongly on Trump. I don't blame Trump for this, This is without a doubt, not his Fault. I Don't Blame Trump, My Thing is,
It was all fine and good when it was Trump schooling Democrats on Political issues. But this is a different time, This issue has done a lot to highlight how Trump really wasn't the guy to prepare the nation for disaster
In 2017 To cut funding, Trump Disbanded the part of our government which was prepped and designed to handle pandemics. Trump struggles to explain why he disbanded his global health team
And even now, Trump isn't handling this like a strong president, He has Mike pence, Handel, most of the serious talking, While Trump flouts on about other things, Then He brings on people who know what they are talking about to speak in his stead. Having pence Speak for him, Does show that He can't fully handle this situation. I'm not picking on Trump, But Trump's strengths are that of a businessman and economist, This Situation Literally does highlight That intellectually he was not prepared for this, However, Who was. Still. The fact that he gets his Vice president on there to speak to the nation, After he postures and rallies. Really does show his disconnection with almost all of America.
His strengths are his weaknesses during this crisis.
A strong president, Like Reagan, It would have Been Reagan talking for an hour, Reading and quoting those Facts from those people, Reagan understood, That to show strength and leadership he couldn't let other people do his talking for him, That he was the mouthpiece of America. It's leader. And he lead.
Trump is not this Saviour, That people who are politically charged are proclaiming him to be.
He has weaknesses and unprofessionalism that at this point shows, I am still fully Republican.
My money is mine, I am republican all the way. But, I back Trump less and less, every day.
People will trust whoever tells them positive things during a crisis. I'm just saying, There are wiser people than Trump to trust in this Crisis, That's why he brings them on to speak for him.I’ve been watching the daily briefings live and in their entirety. I’d recommend that.
You are right there, I just don't consider him a primary source for true information on this,I’m just suggesting a primary source to hear what’s said. I don’t need Tucker Carlson or Rachel Maddow or the NY Post or Times or even AE to interpret
I actually mentioned something akin to this idea in another thread, To be fair, I know this is important and people need to be informed, But, there is literally nowhere online people can go and not be met with COVID-19, I am in complete agreeance.UK is the best organized country in the world when it comes to coronavirus. Lowest daily deaths rise, lowest number of infected ppl. Really proud to be British.
Anyway, how about voluntarily abstaining for 1 day / 24 hours from talking about coronavirus. I am totally bored with all the virus stuff and info. I mean, all the main news sites just talk about virus and nothing else.
