In Arizona, after the landlord prevails in the eviction hearing, the landlord must wait 5 days before obtaining a writ to remove the tenant from the premises which is served by the constable, who has the authority to remove the tenant.

So,, I get the steinberg manhunt part now.

But what was the forum about ? What was posted and who hung out there .

Ten years ago the Paracast forum was a really interesting place. Biedny was a lot of fun most of the time. He's a smart guy, often opinionated and seldom has any patience with bullshit. There were plenty of other bright, talented people there so the discussion was often interesting and stimulating.

It has been going downhill ever since Steinberg's begging began to ramp up and get really obnoxious. The last couple of years I participated, it was getting pretty lame. The good people left in disgust at an increasing rate, as the dingbats became more prominent. The podcast has been declining in quality and the ads seem to get more obnoxious. The last podcast I tried to listen to was quite a while back, when Gene got some of his old gang together. There was no one recently passed on to pay tribute to, so there was no focus really and it degenerated into a bunch of grouchy old farts arguing over some silly crap that started before I was born, so early Fifties. Please. To his credit, Gene tried to keep the show on topic but he was outnumbered by the fusspots. It was a hopeless mess.

I'm sure the forum posts that Steinberg has deleted number in the thousands. I would bet a dollar it's many thousands. Anything even mildly critical of Steinberg or his decisions is a prime target for deletion. That's no way to run a forum. Then there are the moderators. But I won't get into the asshattery that they get up to all too often.

Pretty unbelievable but it certainly looks like the Steinbergs are being evicted yet again. I think in AZ they get 5-7 days before the constable actually arrives to give them the heave ho.

I have a low opinion of Gene and fully believe he and his wife brought this on themselves but even so it's sad to imagine a guy at his age who very likely has nowhere to go.

And yet something tells me there will still be a new episode of the Paracast this Sunday.

Correcting the Lies About My Money Situation
By Gene Steinberg

After a period of severe financial distress, I decided to do what others have done and take my situation public. I weighed the pros and cons, and realized that some people would severely object to anyone who chose this method to ask for help. But I did it anyway; the situation was really that bad.

Now asking for donations isn’t unusual. Lots of people who run blogs or other online businesses have Donate buttons. Some even depend on those donations to put food on the table and pay the rent. No doubt I made the mistake of explaining the source of my problem, because the situation was urgent. Being honest and forthright about my needs had unintended consequences.

Fortunately, most of you understood what was really going on, and some of you were even willing to help.

But a few online bloggers decided to run hate campaigns against me. Mixing the basic facts of my situation with lies, they have been relentless.

But you deserve to know the facts, so I’ll respond to the false claims here:

Accusation: Gene refuses to get a job, and expects people to hand him money to fund his lavish lifestyle.

Response: A few bloggers continue to spread this lie. Even though they’ve been corrected time and time again, they repeat the same falsehoods. One of those people even has a donate button on his website, so maybe he hopes some of you will help him rather than me.

The people who make these false claims have no idea what my personal finances really are. They don’t care!

The truth is that I’ve always had an income, but it has varied all over the place. I earn money from the radio shows and my tech blog through ads and subscriptions to The Paracast+ and The Tech Night Owl+.

The 2007 recession made it difficult to find outside work for a while, but conditions are getting better.

Additional money comes from social security; not a lot, but it helps. I have also had different part-time gigs, such as consulting, writing and ride sharing (Uber and Lyft).

I have also sought financial assistance from government and charitable agencies. Only limited help for older Americans is available in Arizona; they mostly focus on young families with children.

Question: Gene lives a lavish lifestyle.

Hardly. My rent about average for this part of the country. We’ve moved to cheaper and cheaper places in recent years. The household furniture is sparse and old; it was purchased shortly after my wife and I got married 40 years ago. Since then, we’ve spent $100 for a do-it-yourself chest. We bought a mattress and box spring 12 years ago, and it really needs to be replaced. The family TV, acquired with a professional discount, is more than five years old. My notebook computer was purchased in 2010.

Our diets consist mostly of breakfast cereal, bagels with cream cheese or peanut butter, soups and the occasional salad. My wife prefers breakfast bars. When I’m outside working, I might stop for a cheap sandwich at a fast food restaurant or convenience store. Beverages consist of coffee, water and diet sodas. We may eat out on a special occasion, but even then we choose a fairly inexpensive Chinese or Mediterranean restaurant.

I’ve gone over my personal finances with friends to see where I can save, and I can tell you my lifestyle is anything but lavish.
Accusation: Gene has been begging for money for 10 years, and doesn’t do a thing to change the situation.

Response: My first requests for donations were not about me, but my late brother-in-law Stephen. I began to help him deal with the outgrowth of a series of legal issues in 2003. One of those legal issues involved the proceeds from a large stock sale, but he assured me that everything would soon be resolved in his favor so he could collect his money.

So I slowly emptied my bank account of my life savings and handed money to him. My son offered his college savings to help. After all, it was about family. But the legal roadblocks remained in place, so when I ran out of money, I began to post online donation requests to continue to help Stephen and his family. Some of you might recall my original money appeals, which included photos of his handicapped son.

They were all about Stephen and his family, not about me!

Stephen died in 2014. His legal problems were never resolved, and my personal finances were devastated. My son managed to cover most of his college education with grants and scholarships, but he continues to pay off a small student loan because of the money he lost.

My income is slowly increasing, so I’m getting closer and closer to moving past this nightmare. Obviously nobody is forced to donate, and nobody is forced to read the newsletters and posts about my situation.

Let me make it clear: My financial problems are real. If you have any questions about my situation, or need more information about specific bills, just ask.

After all this time, I realize that I’ve probably worn out my welcome, and most of you have family and other personal obligations that demand more attention. These are hard times for everyone. But I did want to set the record straight for those who still have questions about my situation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this week note nothing has changed!
Hi,

With all the crazy online chatter about my personal financial situation, I’d like to explain what’s going on and respond to the most common questions.

Q: Why are you still asking for money?

A: This problem has taken far longer to solve than I ever expected. It’s slowly getting better, though, but a small pack of online haters has been doing their level best to prevent me from getting donations, finding guests for my radio shows, and getting advertising. They even posted the phone number of the radio network in an effort to convince them to cancel my shows.

The problems I’ve confronted along the way have been explained in detail. Just this year, my wife and I lost our lease. We were stuck in cheap motels for three weeks before we found a new home, and we were only able to avoid homelessness from your ongoing help.

Q: Why not just get a job?

A: I’ve explained over and over again what I do for a living, but the online haters continue to spread silly stories claiming that all I do is sit in front of a computer doing nothing.

I have three jobs that include the radio shows and gigs with Lyft and Uber, the ride hailing companies. My income is increasing, but I have a lot of catching up to do.

Q: Did you really ask for money because your teeth hurt?

A: That silly claim comes from people who would rather get yucks than read what I actually wrote, which is that I need thousands of dollars of dental work that I’ve neglected for years. I just want to save my teeth.

Q: Why do these people hate you so much?

A: Most of them are total strangers. A blogger who has spread hateful rumors about me sent me exactly one email over the years. What I do know is that I’m not the only person who has asked for donations to help during a financial emergency, and I don’t know of anyone else who has received such “attention.”

Despite the online threats, I am working as hard as I can to catch up with my bills. I hope you’ll be able to continue to help me to survive.

As Above So Below
I was just reading this blog and posted in this thread linked below, especially found the bit which he talked about UFO rascals fitting...

Ufologist hysteria

Edit (added quote):
UFO rascals, people with ulterior motivations seeking fame, fortune, attention of any kind, or just irreverent mischief are running amok in the UFO community, often ballyhooed by those who should know better and should offer restraint, not tawdry accolades.

Obviously, the American Court System is now part of the "haters" group that is persecuting Gene without cause. Everyone is trying to shut Gene up for revealing the "trooth".

I want to say directly to you in regards to my former association With the paracast. I truly regret staying as long as I did. I made some mistakes in my support of Gene until the hack story. I now am trying to move forward. I would like you to return and give me a chance to earn your trust back. all I can ask.

I am open to change. When I left in a huff (or was it a minute and a huff?), I was overcome with tinnitus which was ringing so loud in my right ear that I was becoming a raging beast. Having this constant sound 7 by 24 in the head can really do a number on a person's emotional tranquility. This began about 3 weeks ago after surgery to remove my thyroid due to cancer. Normally, I am in great health so this detour into hypothyroidism and radiation treatment was quite painful for me. This made me rather short in my patience. I confess that Thomas M. tripped a trigger when he said that since he was never personally impacted by Gene's begging, he just didn't care. Then he proclaimed that the people who were cheated by Gene were just a lynch mob. YIKES! I just have a hard time with people who don't care about issues unless they are personally involved. Anyway, I am back (tinnitus and all) but hope to stay away from conflict, since it brings out my Wesson Dark Side that takes no prisoners.

I thought some folks might like to check out average apartment rents in Phoenix. Gene could have rented a much cheaper place without a Olympic size pool, sauna, gym and gorgeous landscaping with huge palms lining the drive, The average rent (60%) is below $700 a month but Gene was paying over $1000 to $1300? Bear in mind that Gene was renting in Gilbert, one of the most expensive places to rent in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Phoenix is like Los Angeles in that it is made up of many communities, shown on the site below. Gene, if destitute, could have found an area with much lower rent. But Gilbert is on the extreme west side of Phoenix while Scottsdale (site of Gene's earlier evictions) is in the extreme east side of Phoenix.
