I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that it costs hundreds of dollars a year in fees to keep a company active?

Ive long said you shouldnt kick a man when he's down. But ive come to conclude Gene may be making this stuff up.
I entered into discussions with him to buy the brand at a fair price.
And then he started making claims about revenue that are inconsistent with his alleged financial situation.
There were enough red flags during the course of that discussion to make me wonder if he was being totally honest about the situation.
I hope for Barbera's and Teddy bears sake he can sort out his issues if they are real.
But i made it clear to him he cant be "donated" out of the situation.
At one stage i said to my wife i want to pay his rental arrears and then a month in advance, in the hope that such a reset would get him back on his feet.
But without a reliable income stream, he would just be back in the same mess in a months time.
Its like trying to plug a cannonball hole with a finger. The boat is going to sink anyway.
The show and website doesnt cost much to host. The domain reg is pocket change in annual fees, and the forum software license isnt much either. He's not asking for help to keep the forums running.
My gut feeling is that there is another pathology at play here, perhaps its a poker machine addiction, or perhaps donations are in and of themselves endorphine stimulators, in the same way wealthy people sometimes shoplift because it gives some odd gratification.
Either way and no matter how you look at it, he does have a problem that donations wont ever solve. They may in fact just make it worse.
I hope that whatever the solution is for him, he finds it.

Yeah that was a major red flag for me,
You just dont give out your details to strangers in the way he describes it.

Hey Ron, Thanks for the kind words.
What actually happened was Walt found my FB page via my being friends with Chris. Found out one of my beloved dogs had passed away and used that information to bait and troll me. Taunted me publicly and privately over the death of a family pet.
I asked Gene to back me on that, he banned me instead. Then Don Ecker deleted my account just to be sure i was good and gone.

I like beyond the star gate feel that honestly I had enough of the topic.
There are those on UFO trail that think Gene Steinburg silenced me. This is not the case. Gene is blocked by me. I don't know how he can silence me.
I also am sick of the "porno Bob nonsense " since those who wish answers decide to treat me in a childish manner I feel that I need not add my voice to the chorus.
I only post this here because I feel a need to defend myself as I exit from the conversation.
I will of course watch the topic.

Strongly agree with all this.
With the digging people have done online to turn up past judgments and charges against Gene, many out there appear to have concluded that Gene is a con man, or at least someone who is very comfortable with stiffing his creditors.
There is the school of thought that after the $28K judgment against him, he didn't want to draw anything like a regular paycheck, since it would be garnished. Thus the podcasts, Uber and Lyft, and the donation requests.
All of the above could be factors to explain the Gene puzzle. I believe that Gene is actually impoverished, but also believe that he attempts to live as though he were not. We know he has been evicted multiple times in recent years for example.
I am not a mental health professional but it is not hard to think there is as you say some pathology involved. How his wife puts up with it I can't imagine.
But also as you say he is not going to be able to beg his way out of the hole he has created, even if someone did what you very kindly considered and helped him out with past rent payments and a future rent payment. If he doesn't have the income, how can he sustain himself going forward?
Interesting he portrayed the Paracast to you as bringing in revenue that was inconsistent with his non-stop poor mouthing. I'll assume he was misrepresenting the revenue but I do not know. There are lots of stories of Gene living high on the hog so to speak. I don't know why he would bother with Uber and Lyft if the Paracast and TechNightOwl actually paid his bills. Hmmm.
You exhibit a good deal more compassion for Gene than I can manage. I am not one of the people who I see commenting to the effect that they want Gene locked up and being sodomized by a fellow inmate, but it has crossed my mind that Gene may belong in jail. I would prefer he just take responsibility for himself and his life and cut out the endless hyperbolic requests for cash. But then, there's that question of pathology again, when it comes to that behavior. In any case I think most of the harm he does is to himself, though there are claims he has gotten thousands of dollars out of concerned people.
From afar I judge Gene to be intervention-proof, but if his chronicles of his trials and travails are to be believed, then in light of his refusal to change behavior that is horribly dysfunctional (and at times criminal), it seems he could use an intervention. I will shamefully confess that for me this is all akin to how some people get absorbed by one or another unsolved true crime. Just a bizarre, frustrating mystery, that I do hope doesn't go full tragedy.

yep, before reading his posts on Dan Fry i never batted a eye on him and any other contactees for that matter, to make stuff weirder john keel as some quite compelling arguments that contactees aren't hoaxers, the real hoaxer's are the so called aliens they meet
