How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

I just heard from my dad that he got tested positive for the virus. This is a week before he was to be vaccinated. Im stressing now, but he seems to feel ok presently, after having some flu like symptoms for couple of days. Im scared tough, hes part of the risk group. Hopefully he did get the better odds and already had the milder version, but theres no telling what kind of after effects there will be in any case.

Hey sorry to hear this, hope he doesn't get hit too hard with it, as pepe said, it's all about exposure and amount taken in...I wish him a speedy recovery, let us know how he's doing when you can post an update...

Well he lives with this woman who still works at some senior care place. It might have been he got it from her, while she got it from her workplace. I have no idea how much has been transmitted in that case. Or he might have gotten it from a store, and now the woman is at risk too, since they live together. I think shes gone to take her own test too, havent heard any results of that yet. I dont know if she was vaccinated, she should have been if she works in some healthcare thing, but they might have screwed it up somehow, I dont know.

It really sucks that this had to happen week before my dad was to be vaccinated. He was almost in some safe space but ran out of time. Of course. I cant even go to see him if he gets put in a hospital since im risk group too. Really sucks should it come to end like this.

But I guess it wouldnt last forever. Finland is having a third wave now, the cases are higher than ever(600-700 per day on average), highest in our southern region of Uusimaa, plus we have the british mutation here taking the place of the normal one, which seems to infect even more. Were already talking about curfews and other things again. And our vaccination is behind schedule, someone on EU level or somewhere else really screwed it up. Because of our massive bureucracy theres been problems dealing with the vaccinations and the people coming through the borders, some which have been clear carriers. In short, its been relatively quiet and messy, but now hell is about to enter through the gates.

Hopefully it doesn't put him in the hospital, I've read that vitamin D, C, and zinc supplements are helpful, I've begun taking vitamin D on a daily basis now...

Covid cases have dropped some across the US and I've noticed in my area people are becoming lazy with mask wearing again likely because of that drop in cases, so I think we are going to have another wave very soon...My age group won't be able to get vaccinated until April 15th at the earliest and with the UK and SA variants discovered within an hour drive to my house, I'm staying home as much as I can until I can get vaccinated...I'm glad Winter is almost over here, I want to be outside with everything warm and green again...

I guess I am lucky, in my area everyone still wears the masks and the governor has not opened the businesses up 100% yet. I think Restaurants are restricted, no more that 50% capacity in dining areas, no salad bars etc., masks are still required everywhere and I have only seen one or two people without them. There are counties in our state that have defied the rules and those counties have higher cases of the virus than the rest of the state.

I've started wearing the thin, black neoprene like masks because they're easier to breathe through. The surgical masks breakdown and the stingy material goes into your nose and mouth.

At last;
Kids go back to in person class in April
I go back to the office next Monday.
Ian starts spring training for the south side sluggers on March 25th.
Slow steps in return to normal.

My grandson in Albuquerque started going back to the classroom 2 days a week last week, the school is only allowed 50% capacity so half the classes meet Mon & Tues, the other half on Thursday & Friday. Wednesday is online for everyone. The days they are not in the classroom they are still doing school online.

My oldest grandson who lives in Arizona has had school on school grounds the whole time, they only closed the schools for two weeks after their spring break last year.

My youngest grandson in Delaware is back in the class room and has been since September, but the families get to decide if the children are on school grounds or taking classes online. This grandson's best friend has been going online the whole time because his father has an immune disorder and they will not chance the boy coming home from school with anything, especially not covid.

I made a bunch of masks with a pocket for a filter. I have been wearing those with a filter. In December our company sent us each two masks that have a filter pocket and I wear those for short trips since they loop around the ears. They are nice, but they bother my ears. The ones I made have a loop around the back and tie on top of your head.

I have a vaccine appointment later this week. Because of how the vaccine is distributed here in this country (England), I don't know what vaccine I am going to get until I turn up to the vaccine centre. It could be the Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech, or Moderna vaccine. I have heard that the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine leads to about a third of recipients of working age needing to call in sick the two days after it has been administered. It's convenient then I have my appointment on a Friday.

I received my first Covid vaccine shot (Moderna) this morning. Outside of the chaos at the doctor’s office (no one seemed to have things set up properly) it went well. I waited my fifteen minutes and then I was on my way. No side effects thus far.

I have been only slightly affected by the virus the past year. Now the vaccine is out and people are pressuring me to get it. When I check online the state website still says people in my age group with no health issues are not able to get it. I don't trust the pharmaceutical companies who are more concerned about profit, or politicians who have been writing the narrative to their advantage. I have never had a flu shot and I think the reason I have been fine, as far as I can tell never getting the flu because I had the hong kong flu in the late 60's. That flu almost killed me, my mother and brother but we never saw a doctor, just had relatives keeping cool cloth on our heads to keep the fever down and making sure we had plenty of water to drink. I have had a few non-flu respiratory virus' over the years.

However, I want to go to my grandson's graduation in May so I probably will get the covid19 vaccination but I would like to hold out until I am sure I get the Johnson & Johnson version for several reasons, one being only one shot.

I get the feeling that a person will need to be immunized in order to be allowed to enter certain places or be allowed to do certain things. It’s unfortunate but that seems to be the way things are heading.

I signed up for a vaccination with the state health department. So far it still says my group (younger than 65 and healthy) will get vaccinated in late spring. But both my friend and daughter, who signed up a month ago have been told to schedule an appointment. I am only doing this because of a family trip to Phoenix in May, otherwise I would just not bother. I don't think there was enough research to begin with. In a couple of years when all the data has been looked at maybe, but now is too soon, except maybe, for the Johnson and Johnson version which uses well tested method based on the flu shot, which should have been where they all started since this virus is a new version of corona which includes "colds" and influenza.

I had the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. There wasn't a queue at the vaccine centre. The person administering it mentioned that they had received 2,000 doses for the day, but only 400 bookings.

There is a bogus non-story emanating from the continent about it supposedly being associated with blood clots. Epidemiological data for blood clots in the general population reveals that there is no increased incidence in those vaccinated with with the AstraZeneca vaccine. This after this, therefore because of this reasoning is deeply irrational, and it is probably part of the politicized campaign to rubbish the AstraZeneca vaccine by EU national leaders. Countries outside of the EU have been influenced to stop administering the AstraZeneca vaccine as a result.
