That engine looks immaculate from what a I can see.Show & tell kids. I got the strangest feeling as I did this - I think it's called 'fun' and 'relaxation'
You can yank open a thousand garage doors and not find one of these.
My friend is only a mile away and his car hasn't been running right, barely at all and he asked for some help. Changed the plugs on this thing from over the fender and I got all eight of them - not the easiest thing to do on that monstrosity. He pulled out new old stock Champions, literally probably been saving them 40 years or more and yesterday was It. That thing is a '70 Challenger he's owned from Day 1 with the much sought after 440 six pack - and that's where I come in. I know something about those three Holley two-barrel carbs and actually pinpointed two problems. Entropy mostly. I got the plugs in and she fired right up, corrected the idle and fuel/air mixture as best as possible, adjusted the idle stop solenoid, throttle linkage. It sits there and purrs now and produced zero smoke and doesn't diesel at shutoff anymore. That famous six pack is cool to look at but is a heaving pile of plumbing that all has to come off and be rebuilt.
Standing there greasy drinking a beer with my friend watching that thing sit and glug glug glug was pretty enjoyable. Don't get to fart around with a piece of history like that too often.

It's been roughly 95 degrees with extreme humidity for the past few days. Been on my feet at work in a place that isn't all that well air conditioned and I am getting worn down. Supposed to break today and be much cooler Thank Yahweh.
Friday afternoon we had sheets of rain blowing nearly horizontal. It rained until early Saturday morning. We have this weekend with temps in the mid 90s, humidity is always a factor here, even in cooler months, but after Monday our temps are dropping back to the upper 70s for highs...
Did you get much weather from that hurricane?...The recent hurricane in the gulf is heading my way after it sweeps through Louisiana...

Been out working in the yard most of the morning and midday before it got too hot...Can't complain about the heat this month, it's August and it's the hottest month of the year in my area, 92 degrees today and low 90s are forecast all week...Got all the weeding done in the garden, since the corn and beans are spent, going to till and plant some autumn crops in a few weeks, just a little early in getting things ready...I still have watermelon, tomatoes, and peppers growing...
The Farmers Almanac is calling for a harsh winter coming, so the autumn crops need to be planted early as possible just in case we do get a bad winter...

Yeah, the trouble is where you can't see unfortunately - it's leaky. He keeps a couple of cookie sheets underneath. Gaskets and seals dry out. Sooner rather than later that car is headed to a serious collector who has the resources to take care of all that - and who has been waiting for that car for 30+ years. It's the real deal, not so many of those things still in the original owner's hands.
you should see what it's parked next to ........
I'll bite...what is it parked next to?
A 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500 Fastback with the Thunderbird 390. Also the original owner, drove it home from the dealership. Red
Weird synchronicity, he moved in to a place 100 feet literally out the back door of where I grew up - but moved in the same year I left. Same cars and all were there. Peculiar, especially all these years later
Also so very cool. I wish I was young enough to purchase and enjoy said vehicles.
A nice three day weekend is here, most welcomed too and looks to be a pleasant weekend outside, with weather in the low 80s and partly sunny skies, no rain on the menu...Might take a day trip to the mountains on Sunday, if the temps are in the low 80s here it will be 10 degrees cooler in the mountians...
...
We have a 3 day weekend here in Canada too because of Labour Day. Yes, we spell Labour with a u in it. lol
Why do you have a 3 day weekend in the USA?
I spell Labour with a u as well, many Americans don't from what I've gathered but I'd think it's the proper spelling...Our holiday Monday is also called Labour (Labor) day, it's always on the first Monday in September...
