Trump, What's up with This Dude?

Critics argue the real 'threat to democracy' is the Democrats, not Donald Trump

Claims that former President Donald Trump and the GOP pose a grave "threat to democracy" have become a key Democrat talking point ahead of the 2024 elections, but several prominent Republicans and experts say it is really President Biden's party that is working overtime to undermine the vote.

To make their case, they point to Democrats' efforts to keep Trump off the ballot, imprison him, stifle free speech on social media, and rewrite election laws while fighting measures designed to protect ballot integrity. Those ongoing efforts, they say, are a much bigger threat to democracy than the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot Biden and Democrats frequently cite.

Biden summed up those efforts in a speech last year about saving the "soul of the nation" from Trump and his fellow Republicans, claiming they represented "an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic," were "a threat to American democracy," and "a clear and present danger" to all Americans.

Most recently, Democrats have thrown their weight behind state-level legal efforts to prevent Trump from appearing on 2024 presidential ballots, including in Colorado, where the state Supreme Court ruled 4-3 earlier this week that the former president violated the Constitution's 14th Amendment when he "engaged in insurrection" concerning Jan. 6, and should be disqualified.

"Democrats cynically used the COVID-19 pandemic to radically undermine long-standing election laws on the fly and then started pushing for non-citizens to vote in U.S. elections," Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told Fox News Digital. "Now the left is working to remove political opponents from the ballot in a shocking display of disregard for the American people’s right to choose their candidates."

"These attacks on the democratic process drive down voter confidence and trust in the electoral system. Meanwhile, the RNC and our partners are fighting to make sure the American people choose their presidential candidates, not the courts," she said, adding that the RNC was trying to protect election integrity by fighting for policies to ensure only American citizens vote in elections.

Legal expert and Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley agreed, calling the Colorado court's ruling "the most anti-democratic opinion in decades," and arguing that Democrats' claims about protecting democracy "would be more compelling if they were not supporting the effort to block voters from being able to vote for Trump and canceling primaries in states like Florida."

"It is also difficult to claim the mantle of the defender of democracy when your party is actively fighting for the censorship and blacklisting of those with opposing views," Turley added. "The best way to defend democracy is to practice it by supporting both the right to vote and to free speech in others, including those who hold opposing viewpoints."

Trump is insurrectionist, that's so obvious.

You were lucky he didn't impose himself as a permanent dictator. If you want a populist for a POTUS there is plenty to choose from.

US economy is in permanent long term decline, no president can fix that in one term.
But isn't the u.s dollar worth about nine cents more than the u.ks monopoly board money? I mean, yeah our economy is declining. But the whole world is kind of on a decline. Nothing in any nation will improve until we find a way to eliminate greed corruption and personal bias from the system, this isn't just America's problem. The only reason we fight dirty is because we have to because everyone else is already fighting dirty.

I'm not saying that to argue. Most economists agree on that. Middle class in US had been on decline over more then one election cycles.

Its more that some countries are growing faster the US in relative terms, while US is exporting less and less.

Why take a risk with Trump, when there are dozens of other competent Republicans to choose from. Policy differences would anyway be minimal.

Oh, im not arguing on any level, I don't get a chance to debate intellectually much anymore unless it's online. so I'm dying for it, lol

I feel that it's something that a person just couldn't understand unless they experienced it.. The problem with the polarizing views on Trump is. it really was a demographic of people that he pandered to. He strongly focused on the working class and at a time when people really needed it, Trump stepped up and helped the working and disabled. People were receptive and loyal to this. Unless you experienced it, its hard to describe. but from a working man in American perspective. Trump came in when people were locked in their homes and frightened and said, here, Take all this stimulus money and grab a mask and go take care of your families..

Not many leaders have ever done that in our lifetimes.. He's A literal superhero...

'Trump, come in here and clean this mess up!' Seething Chicago resident explodes on migrant crisis and demands mayor 'send them all back'

(Excerpt)

More than 26,000 migrants have arrived in Chicago over the past year by bus and plane, with about 14,000 currently in shelters. Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, has sent migrants from his state to Democrat-run cities in the north, in a bid to pressure Joe Biden to take action. The cities are struggling to cope: a five-year-old boy died in a freezing and damp Chicago shelter on Sunday, and many are sleeping in O'Hare airport or police station lobbies.

Blakemore, who is black, said the situation was untenable. 'I am anti illegal immigrant,' he said at the December 14 meeting. 'Send them all back across the Rio Grande.'

He yelled: 'We are the only people in America who were enslaved. We didn't come over waiting and looking for something. When we came we built this country, on free labor.

'To see another group come over here - it's disgraceful, it's un-American.' He asked the council: 'What about the black children? The black workers? They compete with us.'

Blakemore continued: 'I am strictly advocating for black people. Call ICE on them. Trump, come in here and clean this mess up. The most corrupt city in the United States is the city of Chicago.'

Its great fun when people blame it on immigrants.

People who really and truly screw you are financial elites, bankers and Federal Reserve. Bankers gamble with billions and cause booms and busts. FED lets them do that and then mops up the mess and causes taxpaying people, to pay for banker's excess, through "quantitative easing", aka printing money and inflation.

But obviously, it takes more balls to blame untouchable bankers to whom you owe money for the mortgage on your house, then immigrant who is the lowest of the low and practically can't lay a claim on his human right for fear of being extradited.

By definition, the only people who can screw up a country are people in power, not the powerless ones.

The shadow

The shadow knows!
I can't vote for Biden. He is to old his mind is gone. I can't vote for Trump. The man is a legal hot mess.
I consulted with Kate ( who is 2nd year law school. ) She told me trump will be convicted on fraud and insurrection. His dictator statements. And calls to rewrite the constitution are troubling. Trump has quoted mine kampf . If we put him back in power I fear for our nation .

I think that the Dems would actually want Trump on the ballot if they thought they could beat him. Evidently they aren't so sure about that!
The problem is evident. The Dem'ons <''--- been workshopping that" Anyway, they fear Trump because if he becomes president again they lose a lot of money and power. See it's not just who is president, it's which party is in control of the free world. The red people or the blue people. What you are seeing manifest in people isn't vitriol hate. It's fear and greed of losing power. People are willing to hate for power. Even to ruin lives and kill for power. However, the biggest disgrace of all is when we. The citizens who have no power or great wealth fight amongst themselves over which corrupt underserving power-hungry monster gets to lead us.. The true deception is that we never really had a choice as those individuals already sold their souls for wealth and power long ago...

Edit. I have always found it odd that a person can claim to be a republican or a democrat and everyone just accepts that that is what they are. it almost doesn't matter what stand they take or what they say. people can just assign themselves a label and truly be red or blue. Thats how easy it literally is to lead or mislead people in modern society...

now how exactly would that be accomplished?

By declaring non existent election fraud and sending a ton of his followers to "burn the Reichstag".

That guy wants to abolish two presidential terms limit, so he can be a POTUS for life. Isn't that a warning enough.

There is nothing special about Trump, apart from his crazy charisma. There are at least two dozens of good Republicans who can do what he can do.

just vote for any other decent Republican
The Electoral College, which we need and shouldn't be idly ****ed with, means that you can vote for whoever you want but living in New York means that every Republican or Independent vote I have ever cast just flew out the window, it's a Democratic state, period. I think the majority of the country would like Joe Biden and Donald Trump to be placed on the next Artemis rocket and be flown into the Sun.

At least the Republicans are running other people in the hopes DT drops dead or something. The Dems just have Landru, that disconnected irrelevant image, no one dares to suggest the king has no clothes on. Ask Mayor Adams what happens when you criticize.

Nobody's talking about what happens in 2025, only in 2024. if DT gets in he'll be as ineffective as he was the first time because the Dems are better at media manipulation and he is incapable of forming coherent speech.
