I did this early on but do so again to newcomers and those who may not know this tidbit.
on April 14th Gene moved into the desert mirage apartments. Gene rented a studio loft. at that time it went for $1100 a month.
how do I know?
simple. on June 13th he was evicted.
the amount owed was 3394.
April -june is 3300.
30 dollar late fee each month
and look! 3390.
the 4 extra bucks? most likely change in the rent or late fee.

Right, he has no problem with unfavourable reviews, yet he deleted the comment which this seems to be in response to because it was honest and unfavourable towards him. Makes perfect sense (only if you are Gene).
Further he is saying that any commentary about the ads is invalid because Paracast+ exists. That is completely ridiculous too. Whether you listen to the plus version or not, the conversation is completely destroyed because of the constant interruptions. Just taking the ads out doesn't help.
This is why I don't listen anymore (despite my lifetime subs). I stopped listening during Chris' tenure because the interruptions made the show intolerable. I would still force myself to listen from time to time to see if things had improved but they never did. The show turned to Garbage as soon as Gene went on GCN and put an unbearable amount of ads and breaks in. The fact that he sees no problem with it, indeed it seems he isn't even aware of it proves that he never actually pays attention to the content of the show.
He just sees it as an opportunity to sell adspace (badly) and recruit new suckers for begging. If he really wanted to attract more subscriptions he would ditch GCN and remove the ads completely. People will pay for something if the quality is good enough.
Indeed he could even get sponsorship as many high quality podcasts do but in typical Gene fashion he is willing to destroy the actual product which he is selling in order to sell ads - a completely backwards way of doing things. You end up ensuring that nobody listens to the show and in the end nobody will want to buy ads anyway.
Going back to the issue of reviews, what Gene means is that he has no problem with anyone disagreeing with him as long as they only criticise within certain parameters that are determined arbitrarily by him.
Seeing what happens to even the most mild of critique on the Para Site this basically means that you MUST agree with him or he has a problem with you - even if he tries to pretend otherwise.

Yet another thing he is completely full of shit about. Well, several actually. My favorite bit from this particular mess is "fail to realize the existence of Paracrap+". Does he really think those of us who are disgusted by the ads and their effect on the show don't know about the pay version? Again we have Pretzel Gene Logic going on: If you don't like the free version, then pay me for the "premium" version. Yeah, like I'd give the crook money for any reason.

As far as advertising goes, I am betting he gets some sort of payment for those GCN ads. Why? Because he essentially lies about everything and I am willing to think he lied to his co-hosts in order to keep all the revenue for himself.
The Paracast Plus was a joke right from the beginning. It was just a place for Steinberg to tell more of his silly stories about superheroes. I was sorry I ever joined up for that. Let’s say I didn’t make the same mistake twice. I also made sure I went into PayPal and cut off any further renewals.

I agree. Even a moron like Gene would not do something for nothing. Being part of GCN does nothing beyond breaking the show up with those terrible ads for snake oil type supplements. It does not increase the audience. If anything having that kind of garbage advertised on the show ruins any credibility it still has (even if you ignore the interruption factor) and likely reduces the audience. So while Gene claims he gets no cut from those ads why the hell would he put them in if he didn't? I think it is plausible that it is another way for him to fleece his co-hosts.

I remember O’Brien asking Steinberg for a cut of the profits. Steinberg refused but gave Chris some beat up old cellphone he had. Gee, thanks for being so generous.

I also tend to think that Steinberg brings in a lot more cash than he lets onto. His problem is that his fans aren’t supporting his rich lifestyle like they once did. Thus, he has to send out his begging emails daily. He has even upped the various ways you can send a Steinberg your hard earned money. What a swell guy!

Gene's entitlement is legendary - he got Chris to do most of the work for the show for 8 years yet thought it was completely fair to keep the entirety of its earnings.
It takes a special kind of greed to believe that is OK.
What surprises me even more is that Chris put up with it for so long and most strangely of all, never got any kind of financial contract to ensure that the money the show made was split between them.
If it had been me, the first thing I would have done is have a separate Paracast bank account for all the money to go into where no single party could spend money from without agreement of the other.
Instead it seems Gene just put everything in his personal accounts and Chris just went along with it.
I don't understand how a seemingly intelligent person like Chris would behave so naively.

The more I see this photo the weirder it looks.
1. Gene appears to have been sent to the back almost as if he was excluded from the shot and tried to sneak back in, even then it looks like people are trying to consciously block him out.
2. Apart from her super high stilettos it appears as if Barbara is wearing kids clothes -like something a preteen would wear in the 1990s - it just looks wrong.
3. The Elvis impersonator looks nothing like Elvis. Even his gestures seem off. Were it not for the outfit I would have no clue what he was doing.

What stood out to me was that here was a group of young people and Elvis who let Grandma and Grandpa into the picture.

If you look closely the two men in the middle front row are both wearing red roses. I believe this may have been the wedding of those two, one of whom may be Gene's son. If anyone has a picture of Grayson we can determine if that is him. This would explain the presence of Gene and Barbara.
I'll admit I may be way off but this would explain why Gene and Barb are present.
