I notice Gene continually changes the forum clock time zone, twice a day lately and the only reason I can determine is to make it look like the one or two posts a day shows up as a 'today' post instead of a yesterday post...

He is so pathetic. He thinks he can change reality by messing with the clock. Pretty much sums up his entire attitude to life - why make a genuine effort to change things when you can just pretend?

Lol I suppose starting politely is a new thing. You'd think he would have thought of this 12 years ago.

A very gloomy Friday!

Hello Again,

I hope your day is going well.

I do hate to bother you with this. I’ve been sustained partly through the support of some generous and caring people, but I’ve pretty much worn out my welcome.

I have to pay the motel again today to keep a roof over our heads. Otherwise, they can throw us out with short notice.

If I don’t pay the storage facility I lose my furniture.

I also have to pay my auto insurance and other bills.

I could go on.

I’m doing my best to cope, but I haven’t raised enough cash to cover all that plus saving money for a new apartment.

The best way to help is via PayPal. Please go to: Send Money, Pay Online or Set Up a Merchant Account - PayPal, login and use the Send to friends and family option. Enter my email address, gene@technightowl.com, and click or tap Next to continue the transaction.

If you want to use another payment method, please let me know. Please write if you have questions about my living situation.

Thanks for reading.

Peace,
Gene

once again he tells us how hotels work..
the storage locker saga continues.
I still think he will say the locker was saved just in time. but wait..we have 5 days. he pays now and.
my treadmill comment looms large.

So - he needs to pay motel rent (ongoing), the overdue storage facility bill, car insurance and "other bills". (Other = what? Cell phone bill?)

But he hasn't raised enough cash to "cover all that plus saving money for a new apartment".

Seems like a new apartment is not in the cards for you Gene. I doubt many landlords would want to rent to you anyway. I sure as hell wouldn't. Maybe find a lower end residential motel and get rid of the storage space? Trying to save for an apartment you probably can't get into and maybe can't afford while neglecting your auto insurance, which immediately negatively impacts your income, does not seem wise.

You know how parents can send their troubled kids off to disciplinary programs? Those may be terrible, but I sort of want to get Gene's email sucker list to put the money together to throw Gene into one of those things. Get a drill sergeant type to whip him into shape. Pay your bills! Drive for Uber! Stop begging! Drive for Lyft! Be honest! Clean your own damn motel room! Etc.

Then maybe at the end a 100 mile wilderness hike with no Internet access, with someone the whole way telling him people are posting stuff about him online, including on the Paracast forum, and he just has to live with that.

I think it could be transformative.

What I find telling is that we know Steinberg reads all the criticisms directed towards him but he never takes any of it to heart. Is he so whacked out in the head that can’t see the truth of what is said about him? I would figure that the donations have dropped off considerably. I guess he is that stupid in not trying a different direction.

The cut and paste posts don’t work any longer, yet he continues to send them out day after day. He has gotten so lazy that he can’t spend a few minutes more and come up with a different direction to scam money out of others. Quite pathetic when you think about it.

I hear you; I am certain he reads things here and elsewhere, and I think we see him responding to some of the criticism in his emails, but usually in a kind of half assed (one might call it "Steinbergian") way.

The recent comments at the UFO Trail blog saying Gene probably figures sending these emails costs him nothing, and occasionally he gets a return, so he just keeps doing it seem true to me.

Of course it has cost him a lot, these emails and his related behavior. It finally drove off the co-host who was carrying the Paracast for him, for one. I am no fan of Chris O'Brien but Gene killed his golden (-ish) egg laying goose there. I think the only shock is how long it took.

He has no job. He pretends to drive for Uber/Lyft but there is no indication that he ever does actually do any driving for them.

He has his shitty podcast but I strongly suspect he doesn't even do the editing for that himself. He used to spend a lot of time policing his online forum but that is now a ghost town.

So basically he has a shitload of time and yet he is still so lazy that he can't write an original email to beg with.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had a basic Applescript that he runs to churn these out, so all he does is click a button.

The sheer laziness of the guy knows no bounds. The fact that he has the nerve to beg when it is clear he hasn't even put any effort into the begging itself makes it all the more infuriating. Successful conmen do actually put some work into their cons. Slimeberg can't even do that.

Well he hasn't said anything about his costs for eating out all the time, I'm sure that is an expensive thing throughout the week, oh and ongoing...

Living in a Motel, it must be hard to cook. Unless there's a Kitchenette.

Apparently there is in the motels where he has been staying. Doesn't matter though. Steinbeg has previously said neither he nor his wife can be bothered to cook (or even make coffee) that is why they always eat and drink in restaurants.

I'm sure Gene would be willing to eat in if we could raise enough money for him to have a chef cook for him. He already wants help with his groceries, motel bill, storage, car insurance, tyres etc. A full-time chef would only be reasonable - maybe a maid too, since the motel staff refuse to clean up after him. Can't expect Schemey to live like a peasant.

Also forgot to mention - we know Gene is bone idle and refuses to do any actual work. Well this time of year is ideal for him. He could get a job as a prop in a haunted house and get paid for doing nothing but sitting in a chair. They might even let him use his Iphone while he does it - part of a post modern commentary on how people are so addicted to their phones, they keep being obsessed with them even after death.

Yeah he was in an Extended Stay America previously, that was a couple motels ago though. Not clear where he is now but I would guess somewhere similar.

I've accompanied my wife on business trips and it's routine for us to walk to a nearby grocery and buy food so we don't have to eat out all the time. We also stayed in an airbnb for a long weekend recently and did the same thing. You do need a refrigerator of some kind but I've found even regular hotel rooms often have that nowadays. But if you've some way of keeping the food you could easily buy things to eat that don't really require cooking. It's not high living but if I was concerned about becoming homeless, it's a sacrifice I would make.

Plus there are senior center options as Erickson has pointed out several times. Gene's gotta Gene though.

(which, fine, Gene can live as he pleases, so long as he pays for it himself... instead he has to wheedle money out of others, money we know some can ill afford to spare)

Yes I've done something similar when I've been away in London and various other places. Not just for cost reasons but also more importantly health too. Restaurant food/premade food is too rich to live on permanently (unless you want to destroy your health). I think most budget hotels I've stayed have had a fridge or some facilities where you could store food if you really needed to. I'm also finding more and more you don't even need them - especially if you eat healthy salads and the like. Most of the places I stayed had grocery stores in walking distance (most of them 24 hours) that I could just pop into and get a salad and some grains ready prepared when I needed to eat - no cooking needed and I didn't even need to store them. That also gets around one of the modern problems of buying stuff then it going out of date before you eat it.

Good points!

Heh, my wife and I have been in London only once (we really hope to visit again), and we did the same thing while there, brought some groceries back to the room. The cheese and onion sandwich from Marks and Spencer, a chain we do not have in the U.S., was almost life changing. We did eat out a few times, it was our big vacation for my wife's 40th birthday, but far from every meal.
